49ers vs. Seahawks
Games one and two on NFL Thanksgiving feature one of the best teams in the league, and so will game three of the NFL on Thanksgiving. The San Francisco 49ers started the season 5-0. They lost three straight after that, but they appear to be back on track now after winning their last
two games by a sizable amount. The team has cut down on their turnovers and it has led to their recent success. Chase Young (mentioned earlier) is on the Niners now, and he has been a great fit opposite of Nick Bosa, arguably the best edge rusher in football.
The 49ers opponent will also be a good one. The Seattle Seahawks are 6-4, but they have hit a little bit of a rough patch recently. Recent losses to the Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Rams were devastating. The Seahawks have one of the toughest schedules going forward, so a win
against the Niners is a must.

Jason Myers misses late field goal, Seahawks swept by Rams in horrific 17-16 loss
Seattle’s season is now in serious jeopardy.

Jason Myers was the hero against the Washington Commanders, but his 55-yard field goal went wide right in the closing seconds. The Seattle Seahawks (6-4) are in serious jeopardy after losing 17-16 to the Los Angeles Rams (4-6). They dominated the 1st half but only led 13-7, then
the offense stalled out and injury to Geno Smith really was a disaster. Bad officiating hurt the Seahawks, bad discipline hurt the Seahawks even further, and the defense lost a 16-7 lead to Matthew Stafford and company.
Hard to envision the playoffs at this point despite the current 6-4 record. And frankly, it’s hard to continue to justify supporting much of this coaching staff given the systemic problems that happen every week.
Seahawks’ Pete Carroll not happy after losing to Rams: ‘We did that to ourselves’
Story by Jackson Stone
1st Quarter
The Seahawks started the game on defense, which has been a problem at times this season, but not on this occasion. Matthew Stafford was sacked by Devon Witherspoon on 2nd and 8, giving the rookie his 3rd on the year. Pressure. from Boye Mafe resulted in a hurried Stafford throw
and a three-and-out forced by the Seahawks defense.
Seattle’s offense converted its first two 3rd down attempts, once through the air to Tyler Lockett and once via Zach Charbonnet running it up the middle. Jaxon Smith-Njigba looked like he had a great sideline grab in the red zone, but Sean McVay’s challenge was successful after it was
ruled that JSN was out of bounds. No problem, as JSN caught the next pass over the middle to extend the drive. Geno Smith found DK Metcalf and Lockett on consecutive plays to get into a goal-to-go situation. Two plays later, DK found the end zone on the slant pass. What an opening
drive! We’re talking 14 plays, 88 yards, and 7 points!
It took only one play for the Rams to get to the Seattle 25. An encroachment on Jarran Reed gave them 1st and 5, then a defensive pass interference on Julian Love resulted in a field position flip. Love mistimed his jump and contacted Tutu Atwell before the ball got there. After
committing offensive pass interference, Cooper Kupp was wide open for a touchdown on a free play but Stafford could not connect. Leonard Williams jumped and the Rams didn’t punish the Seahawks defense. Rie Woolen was flagged for DPI on Atwell on 3rd and 5, which looked shaky
both for the contact and the ball being uncatchable. Three straight runs put the Rams at the 2-yard line. Sean McVay decided to go for it on 4th and goal. The Stafford throw to the end zone... incomplete! He looked for Atwell, but Tre Brown had him locked down.
2nd Quarter
Seattle steadily worked its way from the shadow of their end zone. Then Jaxon Smith-Njigba hauled in a terrific 32-yard pass in double coverage on 3rd and 10. High-point the ball and bring it down in Rams territory! Faced with 4th and 1, the Seahawks went for it and converted with
Zach Charbonnet. Phil Haynes opened up the whole to burst through for 8 yards. Consecutive penalties for delay of game and illegal shift backed the Seahawks up, killing a promising drive. Jason Myers was still on point from 54 to make it 10-0.
Matthew Stafford couldn’t find anything on the next possession and ended up with three straight incomplete passes. Julian Love nearly got to Stafford on a blitz, but Stafford escaped and threw it away.
DK Metcalf got free for 52 yards on a play-action 2nd and 2 deep shot, beating former preseason Seahawk Ahkello Witherspoon all the way to the Rams’ 7. Of course, asking for consistent red zone play is too much, and the drive went backwards. Jason Myers was money from 43 to
extend the lead.
The Rams finally got a good drive going with short passes and successful runs, but it came at a cost after Cooper Kupp suffered an injury. Tutu Atwell got free on a crosser to set up 1st and goal inside the 10. The Rams had 3rd and goal with :12 left at the Seattle 4, and Puka Nacua’s
first target was a touchdown. Tre Brown had tight coverage but Puka caught it in traffic.

3rd Quarter
Seattle started the 2nd half with a three-and-out, including a bad drop by Will Dissly and a broken up throw on 3rd and 2. The Seahawks defense got a three-and-out forced, with some assistance by the Rams for negating a 3rd down conversion on a holding penalty. DeeJay Dallas got hit
early on a punt return, giving the Seahawks great field position after the 15-yard penalty. Dallas got Seattle out of a jam by turning a 3rd and 11 checkdown into a 10-yard gain. Pete Carroll went for it on 4th and 1 and the Seahawks converted on a quick out to Charbonnet. A big holding
penalty on Colby Parkinson negated a good run by Zach Charbonnet, essentially killing hopes of a touchdown. Jason Myers was called upon again to give Seattle another two-score lead, this time from 52.
It was a puntfest for a bit, as neither team could sustain much offense or hold up well in pass protection. Matthew Stafford had a 91-yard touchdown possibly on a wheel route to Darrell Henderson, but he overshot him on 1st and 17. That miss turned into a punting situation, so the
Seahawks got a huge break. The game took a major turn when Geno Smith got crushed by Aaron Donald on a blown block by Phil Haynes. Somehow the pass wasn’t picked off as it hung in the air forever, but Drew Lock had to come in for the injured Smith. It looked like he got hit in the
head and fell hard on his right arm.
4th Quarter
Drew Lock threw an incomplete pass on 3rd and 9 to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, leading to a punt. A penalty on Devon Witherspoon for a suplex on Austin Trammell gave the Rams a free 15 yards. However, Riq Woolen picked off Matt Stafford on the flea-flicker. Stafford got drilled by Mario
Edwards on the deep ball.
Seattle went three-and-out with Lock in for a second possession. The Rams had Stafford back out there after the huge shot he absorbed by Mario Edwards Jr on the interception. A big throw to Demarcus Robinson put LA in Seahawks territory. It took only a handful of snaps for the Rams
to get goal-to-go. A screen pass to Darrell Henderson nullified went f or a touchdown but was erased on an OPI call on Tyler Higbee, who blocked Julian Love before the pass was thrown. Devon Witherspoon was flagged for defensive pass interference on 3rd and goal, giving the Rams
another set of downs. All Witherspoon did was not contact Nacua, who tripped over Jordyn Brooks. A DREADFUL CALL. Henderson scored without any penalties on this occasion, cutting the Seahawks’ lead to 16-14 with 7:38 to go.
Lock threw a deep shot on 3rd and 11 and got picked off by Derion Kendrick on a pass intended for Tyler Lockett. A celebration penalty moved the Rams back 15 yards, but Stafford hit Nacua for a 32-yard gain anyway. Seattle had a 3rd and 15 stop, if only for a hands to the face penalty
on Riq Woolen to extend the drive. The run defense got gashed by Royce Freeman and suddenly LA was in field goal range. Freeman converted a 3rd and 2 by running over Bobby Wagner for a huge conversion. A Nacua just sweep put the Rams in goal-to-go, which led to Seattle burning
timeouts. Surprisingly, the Rams threw the ball and Stafford threw an incomplete pass. Another throw was caught but short of the end zone, so the chip shot field goal by Lucas Havrisik was good but with 1:31 left.
Geno Smith returned to the lineup. A throw to Lockett to his own 40 but the clock was running. Checkdown to Charbonnet for minimal gain. They reviewed this, which would’ve benefited Seattle just to stop the clock. The ruling upheld with :42 left. GENO TO DK TO THE RAMS’ 39! A run
with Charbonnet with :19 and a spike with :07 left. Jason Myers from 55 for the win. Timeout, Rams. The kick is no good. Seahawks lose.

Somehow, I never doubted that the Hawks would win this one, and now I know why. You just can’t fake confidence like this.
The Seattle Seahawks (6-3) offense started out sluggish, but Geno Smith and company sure came through late on at a time when the defense fell apart.
After some missed opportunities and the usual inability to finish off drives with the maximum points possible, the Seahawks lit up the Washington Commanders (4-6) for 20 points in the 2nd half. Geno’s slow, nervy start gave way to a career-high 369 yards passing, 2 touchdowns, and a
clutch game-winning drive culminating in Jason Myers’ walkoff field goal with no time left. A 9-9 slog at halftime turned into a 29-26 Seahawks win that substantially boosts their hopes of another playoff berth.
Smith though he had a winning touchdown to Tyler Lockett with 3:45, but Sam Howell battled back and found Dyami Brown for a tying touchdown with under a minute left. Geno, who played turnover-free football for the first time since Week 4, got a 7-play, 50-yard drive into field goal
range. DK Metcalf finished with 7 catches for 98 yards, including two huge grabs on the final possession to help Seattle get a priceless W.
It’s frustrating, it’s exciting, it’s boring, it’s dramatic, it’s Seahawks football. What else do you expect? The Seahawks are tied for top spot in the NFC West with the San Francisco 49ers, who beat the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier in the day.
1st Quarter
The Commanders got the ball and immediately scored. Not literally, but we’re talking a grand total of four plays. Sam Howell slipped out of a Jamal Adams blitz, and then Brian Robinson got free down the sideline for a 51-yard catch-and-run touchdown. A nightmare start for Seattle.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba got involved early on Seattle’s first drive. He caught a quick screen for 6 yards, then a 3rd and 6 conversion for 21 when he was matched up with a linebacker. A holding penalty on Charles Cross put the Seahawks behind schedule. Emmanuel Forbes lit up Tyler Lockett
on what was a 2nd and 14 drop. Forbes was penalized for the helmet-to-helmet hit and then ejected. Geno Smith was almost picked off on a screen pass, then found JSN on 3rd and 10 for 9. Instead of a 4th and 1 successful sneak, a delay of game forced the Seahawks into a field goal
attempt. Jason Myers drilled it from 45.
The Commanders only picked up one first down on their second possession before punting. Sam Howell nearly got picked by Devon Witherspoon, then checked it down on 3rd and 14 after a false start penalty put them behind the sticks. Seattle similarly only got one 1st down before
punting, as DK Metcalf dropped a pass deep down the field.

Seahawks Players Reaction To Devon Witherspoon’s Forced Fumble.
2nd Quarter
Sam Howell led a 10-play, 41-yard drive into Seahawks territory. Bad tackling by Jamal Adams led to one 3rd down conversion, while Bobby Wagner appeared to get lost on a crosser to Logan Thomas for another 3rd down pickup. Antonio Gibson’s drop almost led to a Jordyn Brooks pick,
but fell harmlessly incomplete. Joey Slye was brought on from 49 to extend the Commanders’ lead back to 6.
The Seahawks answered back with a 10-play, 51-yard drive but stalled out on a misfire from Geno to Zach Charbonnet on 3rd and 4. He might have been short of the first down anyway. Jason Myers tacked on another field goal.
Leonard Williams got the crowd riled up by sacking Sam Howell on 3rd down. The first sack as a Seahawk for the former New York Jets and Giants star!
David Mayo tackle:
4th down false start:
The three-and-out parade oscillated between Seattle and Washington over the span of three possessions. Starting from their own 31, the Seahawks finally had something get into the red zone. Geno scrambled for a first down, Kenneth Walker had an explosive run, and Jake Bobo had a
catch to take Seattle inside the Commanders’ 20. Faced with 4th and 1, the Seahawks eschewed a chip shot field goal to go for it at Washington’s 10. A Geno head-bob on a hard count was ruled illegal, so subtract 5 yards.
Sam Howell completed two short passes, then Riq Woolen broke up a throw on 3rd down for a quick three-and-out. This gave the Seahawks the ball back with :54 left and all 3 timeouts. A DK Metcalf grab got them to the 44. Geno was sacked but a hold on the Commanders gave them a
free 5 yards. Zach Charbonnet got into Washington territory with :31 to go before an injured Commanders player had to be helped off the field. Another Charbonnet touch, this time a run, got Seattle into field goal range. A hold by Phil Haynes put them out of FG range, but Geno to DK
got them inside the 35 again. Then he committed intentional grounding to end the half. UNACCEPTABLE.
After Ken Walker gave the Seattle Seahawks a third quarter lead over the Washington Commanders, Devon Witherspoon ripped the ball away from the Washington offense.
3rd Quarter
Out of the gate, a pair of 3-yard runs by Walker and the first Smith sack of the game by Jonathan Allen. The boos were loud. Washington’s first possession out of halftime saw Sam Howell again scramble and find a wide open Brian Robinson for 48 yards. The running back leaked out of
the backfield and raced down the sideline almost exactly like the touchdown. Thankfully, Seattle’s defense tightened up and Boye Mafe extended his sack streak to seven games. Joey Slye regained the lead for the Commanders from 47 out.
At last! At last a touchdown! Geno Smith completed a pass to DK Metcalf for 11, then found Ken Walker on a checkdown for a 64-yard catch-and-run touchdown! The first touchdown by Seahawks in seven quarters!
Seattle got a turnover off of Sam Howell. The read-option fooled the Seahawks defensive line, but Devon Witherspoon was there to strip Howell and Riq Woolen was on the spot for the recovery! Howell was on top of Quandre Diggs in that crazy sequence.
The Seattle Seahawks are back on top after Ken Walker turned a dump off into a 64-yard touchdown by knifing through the defense of the Washington Commanders.
Seattle committed a couple of holding penalties and nuked their own drive, of course.
Sam Howell had a decent drive going until Dre’Mont Jones and Bobby Wagner converged on the second-year quarterback for a sack. Wagner broke up a 3rd and 16 pass to Curtis Samuel to get off the field.
4th Quarter
The Seahawks got to Washington’s 36 and were faced with a 4th and 1 up by just 4. They went for it and Zach Charbonnet gained 7 yards to move the chains. That was the end of the movement, and Jason Myers ended up with his fourth field goal of the day to make it a 7-point
Seahawks lead.
Washington curiously made almost no effort to run the ball, then they finally realized they could. Brian Robinson and Antonio Gibson bullied the Seahawks to get to the Seattle 41 in just three plays. A few snaps later, Sam Howell was hit by Boye Mafe but still found Antonio Gibson for a
tying touchdown.
The Seahawks got out of a 1st and 15 jam by getting an 11-yard catch-and-run to Tyler Lockett, followed by a 5-yard pitch to Ken Walker. A beaut from Geno to Lockett got them into Commanders territory. A throw to Noah Fant lost 2 yards, setting up 4th and 5. Seattle went for it
instead of kick a long field goal. Geno saw DK Metcalf get mugged, threw it his way, and got the first down. Too many men in the huddle gifted teh Seahawks another 5. A crosser to Lockett put the Seahawks in the red zone. Benjamin St. Juste, who committed PI earlier on DK, got
dinged for face masking Ken Walker. Two plays later, Geno to Lockett on the sprint right throw for the lead with 3:45 to go.

Emmanuel Forbes ejected for helmet-to-helmet hit:
And here is a clip of Emmanuel Forbes leaving the field.
The Seahawks went on to kick a field goal on the drive, to get on the board early and cut the Washington lead to 6-3, and the Hawks will have Lockett at their disposal when they are back on offense after he was cleared to return.
A slant to Terry McLaurin put the Commanders just shy of midfield ahead of the two-minute warning. Howell threw it away under heavy pressure on 1st and 10 out of the 2MW. A drop by Jameson Crowder on 2nd and 10 when he could’ve had a first down. Sam Howell put it on him and
he missed the catch. Facing 3rd and 10, Howell found Antonio Gibson for 9 yards, putting them at 4th and 1 but with a timeout taken. The Commanders had all 3 timeouts to start the drive and wound up with just 1 with 1:28 to go. Game on the line... slant to McLaurin for a first down.
No good on the next pass to Jahan Dotson over the middle. Howell evades pressure and nearly picked by Diggs! Then a touchdown by Dyami Brown for 35 yards on 3rd and 10 as he caught it and took off for the score with :52 to go.
Geno and DK put the Seahawks in FG Position!
The Washington Commanders lose to the Seattle Seahawks 29-26
Geno still had 2 timeouts left to do something in regulation. Short gain by Charbonnet and he stayed in bounds, resulting in another timeout taken. Another Charbonnet checkdown but he gets out of bounds. Geno to DK near midfield with :28 to go! Batted down pass on 1st and 10 with
:24 to go. DK with the catch and run down to the Washington 25! Spike with :03! Jason Myers from 43 for the win... MONEY!!!! SEAHAWKS WIN!

OVERALL
The big question for the Seahawks in this one was how they were going to respond to their 37-3 drubbing at the hands of the Ravens last week. For the most part Seattle did what it needed to do. Smith had a turnover-free game after turning the ball over eight times in the previous four
contests, and the late-game heroics suggests he may be back on track. San Francisco ended its three-game losing streak by blowing out Jacksonville earlier in the day, so the result kept the Seahawks tied for first place in the NFC West at 6-3.

Smith's Record-Breaking Day
Smith not only surpassed previous personal records with a career-high of 369 passing yards, but he also boasted a 103.9 passer rating, breaking a four-game interception streak – a marked improvement since his days with the New York Jets in 2014.
His clinical precision allowed receivers to maximize their yardage post-catch, a feat underscored by Pro Football Focus's statistics, which noted the Seahawks achieving a league-leading 254 receiving yards after the catch for the week.
5. Seattle Seahawks (6-3), second place, NFC West. The Seahawks outlasted the Commanders with more great play in the clutch and both their running game and defense setting the physical tone under Pete Carroll. They stay even with the winning 49ers in the division but remain
behind with a worse division record.

Seahawks utterly humiliated in every way imaginable in 37-3 loss to Ravens
The Seahawks had a chance to make a statement. Technically, they did. A bad one.

By Mookie Alexander@mookiealexander
The Seattle Seahawks (5-3) got to experience an elite NFL team instead of the bad teams they’ve generally been beating over the past few weeks. We ended up with one of the worst performances of the entire Pete Carroll era.
Much like what happened to the Detroit Lions a couple of weeks back, the Baltimore Ravens (7-2) just smashed in the Seahawks to the tune of 37-3. Geno Smith completed less than half his passes, turned it over twice, could’ve easily turned it over more times, and was just bad. The
offensive line was under siege and couldn’t get any push against Baltimore, running for just 28 yards on 15 attempts.
The defense? Atrocious. Allowed almost 300 yards of RUSHING OFFENSE. Lamar Jackson was an efficient 21/26 for 187 yards. No touchdowns for him on the day, but his backup Tyler Huntley got in and threw a touchdown to Odell Beckham Jr for good measure.
Baltimore is one of the best teams in the NFL. Seattle is 5-3 but they are still miles off the elite of the league, just as they were last year. Geno Smith, Drew Lock, Mike Teel, Charlie Whitehurst, it doesn’t matter. This was an all-around failure and almost nothing positive can come out of
this performance.
1st Quarter
The Ravens won the coin toss, giving Seattle the ball first on offense. Normally a strong-starting group, Seattle went three-and-out after Jaxon Smith-Njigba had a bobble on 3rd down and didn’t make the catch until he was out of bounds. Lamar Jackson got one first down to Mark
Andrews, but a false start just about put them behind schedule and the Ravens punted it back.
Geno Smith got one first down to Tyler Lockett, but a 3rd down bat down by former Seahawk Jadeveon Clowney had Pete Carroll punting in Baltimore territory. Backed up at their own 5, the Ravens had an instant 3-and-out. Once again the Seahawks had a first down to Lockett, but the
drive stalled after two penalties on Jason Peters, one of which was declined because Geno got sacked anyway.

The Ravens finally got a drive going into Seahawks territory, with Lamar throwing short passes to his tight ends Isaiah Likely and Mark Andrews, as well as Odell Beckham Jr.

2nd Quarter
Gus Edwards, who had a hat trick of touchdowns last week, waltzed into the end zone from 5 yards out to cap off a 12-play, 81-yard drive.
Geno Smith’s interception woes continued with an overthrown ball intended for Tyler Lockett. It went into the hands of Geno Stone, with his league-leading sixth interception of the season.
Lamar Jackson evaded Boye Mafe for a 23-yard gain because he’s just simply Lamar Jackson. Couldn’t do it a second time, though! Mafe with the strip-sack, and Seattle with the recovery!
Seattle went three-and-out, with a sack included. The Ravens responded with an 81-yard drive that was just almost nothing but positive plays. Gus Edwards capped off the drive with his second touchdown, as the Ravens soared past 200 yards of offense.
Hey! Offense! DK Metcalf got open on a 50-yard crosser off of play-action, as Geno Smith hit him in stride and he took off on a big catch-and-run all the way to Baltimore’s 25. Zach Charbonnet got a 2nd and 3 carry inside the Ravens’ 15. Of course, this is Seattle in the red zone so they
settled for a field goal.
First catch of the day for @dkm14!
FUMBLE! Odell Beckham Jr sloppily handled the ball on a catch, and Tre Brown ended up busting it loose. Bobby Wagner was there for the recovery! What was Beckham doing?!
...And then this happened.
Justin Tucker made it 17-3 before the half after that latest Geno turnover.
3rd Quarter
Gus Edwards broke through a Devon Witherspoon and Riq Woolen tackle to gain 42 yards to start the 2nd half. Seattle’s defense stiffened up well enough to force another Tucker field goal to extend the lead.
The Seahawks, of course, went three-and-out. No one open, offensive line overmatched, you get the drill. Baltimore had a three-and-out of their own, so it seemed, but the Ravens went for it on 4th and 1 at their own 48... Dre’Mont Jones jumped offside. Then on 3rd and 18, Mark
Andrews gained 17 yards, allowing them to go for it and convert with Lamar. Into field goal range they went, and Justin Tucker extended the lead from 31.
After another useless drive, the Ravens got it back and Keaton Mitchell slammed the door shut with a 40-yard score. The rookie raced past everyone.
4th Quarter
Not even sure what’s the point of writing the recap anymore. The Ravens kept shutting the offense down. Tyler Huntley came on and he led a TD drive, finished off by an Odell Beckham Jr score.

Will Seahawks win NFC West over 49ers after Week 8 comeback win vs. Browns? | Richard Sherman NFL
The (5-2) Seahawks
Sunday Oct. 29
Seattle leads the NFC West thanks to clutch plays by the offense and defense in the final minutes of a dramatic win over the Cleveland Browns.
Seahawks Tyler Lockett Holding Court + Highlights vs. Cleveland.
The Seattle Seahawks (5-2) lead the NFC West in the most dramatic way possible.
It was a fast start, a brutal middle, but a great close for Geno Smith and the Seahawks offense. On Throwback Day, Smith led a game-winning drive culminating in a screen pass touchdown Jaxon Smith-Njigba with :38 left to send Seattle to a 24-20 win over the Cleveland Browns (4-3).
The Seahawks raced out to a 14-0 lead, fell behind 20-17 after some shaky defense, shakier officiating, and wildly ineffective offense. PJ Walker threw two interceptions and lost a fumble but was valiant in defeat, as the Browns rushing attack had plenty of success against Seattle’s front.
Geno threw two interceptions that took away potential points for the Seahawks and gave Cleveland a field goal at the other end. He looked frazzled and was off-target on some makable throws. But with the game on the line, he picked a hell of a time to get in a rhythm and crack the
tough code that is the Browns defense. We must also shoutout the Seahawks OL for limiting Cleveland to just one sack (by Myles Garrett, of course).
For all of the issues on defense in the 1st half, the 2nd half saw the Browns limited to just two field goals, which gave the Seahawks a fighting chance in the end. They came through big time with a tip-drill interception by Julian Love off a Jamal Adams head deflection.
With the Cincinnati Bengals beating the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara, the Seahawks now LEAD the NFC West heading into November!

1st Quarter
The Browns got the ball first after Seattle deferred to the 2nd half. It was a swift three-and-out for PJ Walker and company, who were stymied on a 3rd and 2 run play with Jerome Ford. Geno Smith converted the first 3rd down of the game to Tyler Lockett to the 40, and then Kenneth
Walker took off for a 45-yard run into the red zone.
Tyler Lockett’s 3rd catch of the drive resulted in a 1st and goal at the 2, as Geno avoided Myles Garrett and scrambled to find Tyler. On the next play, Jake Bobo took the jet sweep into the end zone! Yes, Jake Bobo!
Kenneth Walker Catch & Run Leads to Bobo Touchdown
Jake bobo Runs it in for 6 vs Bengals
After a 20-yard throw to Amari Cooper, Cleveland got into Seahawks territory. Two plays later, Jordyn Brooks came on a blitz and wrecked PJ Walker for the strip sack. Boye Mafe on the recovery for the first turnover at home all season!
The Seahawks got a 20-yard pass play to Tyler Lockett, and after a loss of 5 on an end-around with Dee Eskridge, Geno found Jaxon Smith-Njigba on a 19-yard screen pass to set up 1st and goal. On 3rd and goal, Smith evaded pressure from Myles Garrett and Za’Darius Smith,
scrambled and found Lockett in the back of the end zone! DIME!
Cleveland responded with three straight screen plays that all worked. The first was to Kareem Hunt for 12, then Pierre Strong for 41, and then David Njoku for 18 and the touchdown. What a sequence for the Browns.
Geno Smith unleashed a deep ball to DK Metcalf into Cleveland territory. Perfect throw beating Martin Emerson Jr for 43 yards. The drive stalled from there but Jason Myers was perfect from 32.
Many more to go for @Bwagz.
2nd Quarter
The Browns offense moved it into the red zone again behind an effective rushing attack and the presence of Amari Cooper. Creative playcalling had Seattle out of sorts. On 3rd down, Walker had pressure in his face and missed an open David Njoku, and instead found Riq Woolen. Then
Njoku knocked the ball loose and recovered it, but evidently he touched Woolen’s helmet before forcing the fumble.
Seattle went three-and-out and found themselves on defense again. Cleveland had 4th and 2 inside the Seahawks 40, and Woolen broke up a pass intended for Amari Cooper. However, the officials ruled it as defensive pass interference. Walker absorbed a vicious helmet shot by Mario
Edwards Jr to still find an open Amari Cooper all the way to the 2-yard line. The penalty advanced them another yard. Kareem Hunt walked in two plays later.
Another three-and-out by the Seahawks was caused by a hand to the face penalty on Damien Lewis, negating a first-down conversion by Tyler Lockett and putting Seattle well behind the sticks. The Browns gave the ball back after a 3rd down sack by Boye Mafe.
On the two-minute drill, Geno hit Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba for quality gains, mixed in with a big run by Zach Charbonnet. A misfire by Geno to Metcalf, followed by a stuffed Charbonnet run on 3rd and 2 led to an interesting decision on 4th and 2 in field goal range. They went
for it and converted to DK Metcalf. The next play was picked by Martin Emerson Jr on a pass intended for DK. Looks like this play shouldn’t have counted for Cleveland!

Pete Carroll livid after no call on Geno Smith interception
The Seahawks were driving until Geno Smith threw an interception on 1st & 10 at the Cleveland 27, but Carroll was livid about an uncalled neutral zone infraction
After the interception Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll was seen on the sidelines livid and lighting up the refs about something, but exactly what could not be discerned. Looking at the replay, however, it appears what had Carroll irked to end the first half should have been readily
apparent, especially to the refs.
The right defensive end for the Browns, Myles Garrett, was clearly lined up in the neutral zone at the time of the snap, meaning the interception should not have counted as it should have been a free play. It’s in the books now, as the teams take the field for the second half, but it won’t
be a surprise if this is one of the plays that the Seahawks bring to the attention of the league office this week when it comes to the referees.
3rd Quarter
Seattle gained 9 yards out of halftime, only to go with a 3rd-and-1 play-action shot on a two-man route. No one was open and Geno threw it away.
Cleveland got out of bad field position with a 41-yard screen pass to TE David Njoku, who caught the touchdown and broke free into Seahawks territory. PJ Walker was confident, composed, and making throws to open receivers and had the Browns in the red zone. Seattle’s defense
stiffened up and held the Browns to a tying field goal by Dustin Hopkins.
Big man Maurice Hurst picked off Geno Smith spectacularly with an impressive athletic play. He tipped away a pass intended for Noah Fant, reeled it in on his own for the grab. Not a good decision by Geno but tip your cap on the pick.
Cleveland was held to another field goal after a terrific PBU by Tre Brown, who had tight coverage on Amari Cooper. Hopkins converted from 27 yards away.
Another three-and-out by the Seahawks could’ve been much worse. JSN stopped his route and Geno should’ve been pick-6’d by Cameron Mitchell, but he dropped it. No worries, as the Browns again kept marching it down the field with timely 3rd down conversions and effective running.
4th Quarter
On 3rd and 4 at Seattle’s 40, PJ Walker skipped a pass short of an open receiver, resulting in a punt to the 11. Finally the Seahawks offense, which had no first downs in the 3rd quarter, sustained something. Zach Charbonnet had two explosive runs and a short reception to help get the
Seahawks into Browns territory. On 3rd and 10 at the 40, Geno got sacked by Myles Garrett. This was avoidable if not for a false start on Will Dissly and a misfire to DK Metcalf.
Another 3rd down stop by the Seahawks defense was nullified by penalty. Hands to the face on Riq Woolen extended the series for the Browns with 3:30 to go. On the next 3rd down with 2:04 left and only two timeouts remaining, a Jamal Adams deflection led to an interception by Julian
Love! A crazy deflection!
Geno Smith had one last shot at redemption with just under two minutes to go and the ball at Seattle’s 43. A short throw to Lockett on the crosser to midfield. DK to the Cleveland 41. Noah Fant to the 14 with 1:10 to go! End zone throw to DK incomplete with :44 left. A 12 man penalty
on defense with the snap imminent put Seattle at the 9. Jaxon Smith-Njigba on the screen! TOUCHDOWN!!!!!
Riq Woolen dropped the game-ending pick as Walker was hit by Dre’Mont Jones. A 2nd and 10 throw fell incomplete with :28 to go. SACK by Darrell Taylor! 4th and ballgame, INCOMPLETE!!!
Geno Smith to JSN for the game-winning score!

Seahawks Wednesday Practice in Throwbacks
The Seattle Seahawks take on the Cleveland Browns this weekend and will be wearing some of their old throwback uniforms to mark the occasion.
It was announced back in June that the Seahawks would be wearing their throwback uniform, which calls back to the 1990s when the colors were a little bit brighter than they are now.
Ahead of their game against the Browns this Sunday though, the Seahawks are already practicing while wearing them. They've even overhauled their website to pay homage to them.
Fans are simply in love with the Seahawks' throwback uniform. Many are saying that it might be the best throwback uniform in the entire league:
Success was hard to come by for the Seahawks during their throwback days though. They made the playoffs a grand total of five times in their first 26 seasons before switching to the jerseys they have now.
The 1990s were downright dreadful as the team enjoyed only two winning seasons and one playoff before the turn of the century.
Fans may be fond of the old uniforms, but they're probably not quite as fond of what the team did while wearing them.

Seahawks overcome themselves, double up Cardinals in 20-10 slopfest
Three turnovers by the Seahawks largely went unpunished, and Seattle is now 4-2.
The Seattle Seahawks (4-2) and Arizona Cardinals (1-5) typically play bizarre games, and this one was no exception.
Geno Smith threw two touchdowns in the 1st half, then committed two turnovers in the 2nd half, while the Seahawks defense held the Cardinals offense to just 3 points scored off of a trio of turnovers. Some questionable officiating undid a pair of great Devon Witherspoon plays, and we
had special teams nonsense happen on both teams.
In the end, the Seahawks win it 20-10 and have their first division win on the year. Jaxon Smith-Njigba scored his first NFL touchdown, while Jake Bobo had a Catch of the Year contender with his toe-drag swag TD that gave Seattle the lead for good. Kenneth Walker rushed for over 100
yards for the first time on the season, while on the defensive side of the ball the pass rush got to Josh Dobbs four times.
Hey, a win is a win. And they covered 9.5, wink wink.

Seahawks Jaxon Smith-Njigba 1st NFL TD
Seahawks Jake Bobo TD vs. Arizona
1st Quarter
The Cardinals got the ball on offense first and with great field position after Jason Myers booted the opening kickoff out of bounds. Josh Dobbs got one first down on a read-option keeper, making Jamal Adams miss in the open field. Adams recorded consecutive quality tackles to set up a
3rd and 5 for the Cardinals, who lined up illegally and didn’t complete the pass anyway.
Backed up at their own 8, the Seahawks offense got out of a jam with a 32-yard 3rd down completion to Jake Bobo. A sack by Zaven Collins on a fake toss by Geno pretty much killed the drive, but Michael Dickson and the coverage team pinned Arizona at the 13. Josh Dobbs hit a rapid-
fire three-and-out and Seattle got the ball back at their own 39. Kenneth Walker had a huge run inside Arizona’s 30 with a sweet lateral cut to the outside. On the next play, Jaxon Smith-Njigba was wide open as possible for his first NFL touchdown!
Arizona again did nothing on offense, but got a gift when DeeJay Dallas fumbled the punt return and the Cardinals recovered at the Seattle 32. Former Seahawks safety Joey Blount with the strip, Dennis Gardeck with the recovery.
Pete Carroll challenged a 3rd down completed pass to rookie running back Emari Demercado. Julian Love forced a fumble, which Marquise Brown recovered a yard short of the line to gain. Carroll wanted the call to be overturned to incomplete, and his wish was granted. Matt Prater
booted one through the uprights to cut the deficit to 7-3.
Seattle wrapped up the quarter with a successful screen pass. Your eyes are not deceiving you! JSN was open, and Jake Bobo sprung the key block to make the first down and beyond.
2nd Quarter
Seattle stalled out and was fortunate not to have Kyzir White intercept Geno Smith on a 3rd and 2. Arizona finally got something going with a big run by Demercado into Seahawks territory. Josh Dobbs was picked by Devon Witherspoon in the end zone, but after a long discussion, a
whole lot of nonsense happened. Boye Mafe had a weak roughing the passer call against him to negate the pick, then Jordyn Brooks got into it with Cardinals OL DJ Humphries, who in trying to hit him back got a penalty and ejection for contacting an official. Arizona had 1st and goal
from the 25, but no problem! Touchdown Josh Dobbs on a zone-read keeper after horrible tackling.
A heated exchange during Sunday’s Cardinals-Seahawks game unexpectedly cost Arizona its starting left tackle after D.J. Humphries unintentionally made contact with an official.
Humphries was ejected from the contest early in the second quarter following an altercation with Seahawks linebacker Jordyn Brooks after a play. As the players exchanged words, Brooks took a swipe at Humphries’s helmet with down judge Brian Sakowski attempting to break up the scrum.
The veteran offensive lineman’s push inadvertently sent Brooks’s arm into Sakowski’s head, resulting in an unnecessary roughness penalty and the subsequent ejection.
With Humphries headed to the locker room, the Cardinals turned to LT Kelvin Beachum to fill the void.
Considering the penalty, it’s likely Humphries will face the possibility of a fine from the NFL next week, despite the awkward smack appeared to be an accident.
The Cardinals currently trail the Seahawks, 17–10, in the third quarter.
Devon Witherspoon, everybody.
The Seahawks answered back with a pass-heavy series, including back-to-back first-down receptions for Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and back-to-back 3rd down conversions to Tyler Lockett to put Seattle in the dreaded red zone. A lob to the back of the end zone to Jake Bobo... ruled
incomplete! He caught it, but the second foot was ruled out of bounds. Pete Carroll challenged it. OVERTURNED INTO A TOUCHDOWN!!! WHAT A PLAY!!
The Cardinals were on the move into field goal range when it all went wrong for them. A holding penalty on left tackle Kelvin Beachum backed them up 10 yards, and on 3rd down Boye Mafe sacked Dobbs out of field goal range. A false start before a Hail Mary dropped them even further
back to midfield. The end zone heave was incomplete.
3rd Quarter
The Seahawks’ aerial attack led the team down the field to begin the 2nd half. Geno Smith was throwing dimes to Noah Fant and Colby Parkinson, and he twice scrambled for 3rd down conversions. However, faced with 1st and goal at the 1, the Seahawks were stuffed twice on Ken
Walker runs, and then Geno’s throw to Parkinson was caught but tackled short of the end zone. Annoyingly, Myers had to come out and kick (and make) a chippy.
Arizona went three-and-out after a terrific 3rd down sack by Jordyn Brooks to deny Josh Dobbs on the rollout. DeeJay Dallas atoned for his lost fumble by spinning out of a tackle and getting a 32-yard punt return to Arizona’s 34.
Seattle wasted this drive when Geno threw a bad 3rd down interception to rookie Garrett Williams at the 1-yard line.
4th Quarter
The Cardinals did nothing with the turnover, getting just one first down before punting. They got it right back after Geno fumbled a seemingly clean snap from Olu Oluwatimi and the Cardinals recovered inside the Seahawks’ 40. Arizona got into the red zone and then they had a bad, high
shotgun snap that dribbled backwards. Dobbs recovered it but took a 14-yard loss. They didn’t recover from this and had to settle for a field goal, which Matt Prater shanked from 34 out!
After a Seahawks three-and-out, Arizona drove the ball into Seattle territory but a Zach Ertc drop killed the drive. Or so it seemed. They lined up in punt formation, then backup QB Clayton Tune came in and threw a pass to Michael Wilson for... 4 yards. On 4th and 9. Turnover on downs!
It was clock-killing mode for the Seahawks, who forced Arizona to burn timeouts but Seattle twice stopped the clock twice with a drop by JSN and Walker running out of bounds. Jason Myers was thankfully there to make it from 48.
Arizona again reached Seahawks territory but found themselves out of it after a sack by Darrell Taylor. One more sack shared by Taylor and Jarran Reed was curtains for Arizona’s offense.

DK Metcalf needs to ‘clean it up,’ and other quotes and updates from Pete Carroll
The Seattle Seahawks are getting prepared to take on the Arizona Cardinals, and Pete Carroll took to the podium on Wednesday to field some questions before practice. He provided a variety of injury updates and even shared a few observations of note. Interestingly enough, Carroll
detailed how this Cardinals team is much different from the one that they have faced in recent years, from the coaching staff to the personnel.
As expected, Carroll fielded a question about DK Metcalf and the recent talk around his weekly (and costly) penalties. Obviously, Carroll is taking the reasonable reaction here... which is not to have one. DK is a competitor, and he is also an adult. He will make the change.
Pete Carroll on DK Metcalf's penalties for Seahawks: "We all have to acknowledge it...He knows he's got to clean it up. "He's got to get it done." (This may be a recording)
One of the biggest injury updates had to do with the team’s recovering right tackle, Abe Lucas. Unfortunately, the Seattle Seahawks are likely to be without Lucas for at least this game and possibly longer.
The news for backup tackle Jake Curhan — who is similarly afflicted with a nagging injury of his own — is more encouraging, as he did at least participate in walkthroughs.
As a follow up on this note, you may remember that Seahawks legend Jason Peters has been dealing with an injury recently, as well. While he would likely be seeing snaps at guard if healthy, his experience at tackle would have been a plus given the injuries to both Lucas and Curhan.
Unfortunately, it sounds like he suffered a setback.
The update on corner Coby Bryant is similarly not wonderful, but he doesn’t need surgery, so it could be worse. As was reported recently, the team placed him on IR, keeping him out until at least Week 10. The audio is a bit hard to hear below, but basically Pete says that the toe injury
that Bryant is currently dealing with is similar to the one that he dealt with previously (I assume he means over the summer), which took a bit of time to return from. For the record, the previous injury was reported in early June, and Bryant was ready to go when the team opened camp
in late July. This means that if he is on a similar timeline, he could realistically return as soon as he is eligible, which would be for the Washington Commanders game.
On a positive note, Pete Carroll did take some time to reflect on the breakout campaign the Boye Mafe seems to be putting together. He has a sack in three straight games after missing the Detroit Lions contest and generally looks much improved following a quiet but encouraging rookie
season. According to Pro Football Focus, Mafe is the 15th highest graded Edge defender against the run, and 22nd overall among players with at least 100 snaps.

Seahawks had the win over Bengals
Smith had several opportunities in the red zone to take the lead late in the game, but was sacked nearly every time due to holding on the ball for far too long. Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III scored the team's only TD, rushing for 62 yards on 19 carries, including the score. Bengals QB Joe
Burrow finished the match with 185 passing yards on 24-for-35 completions with two touchdowns and one interception. Seahawks now head back home to host the Arizona Cardinals

The Seattle Seahawks (3-2) should’ve beaten the Cincinnati Bengals (3-3), but the offense was highly culpable for their failures to finish drives in the red zone.
Geno Smith threw two interceptions, took multiple untimely sacks, and the red zone offense only managed 10 points in 5 trips. The opening drive touchdown that looked so promising gave way to a disjointed performance and a 17-13 loss to Joe Burrow and company.
Seattle’s defense allowed 14 points on the first two drives, but locked the Bengals offense down and limited them to just a field goal the rest of the way (on a 0-yard drive). The Seahawks’ three-game winning streak is over, and there are huge concerns about this offense moving forward as it pertains to their red zone struggles.

1st Quarter
Seattle got off to a perfect start. Geno Smith was 5/5 for 51 yards, including a 3rd down conversion to Jaxon Smith-Njigba to keep the drive moving. After a defensive pass interference in the end zone, Kenneth Walker got the ball at the 1-yard line and sauntered in for six. An 11-play, 75-yard drive to open the day!
The Bengals responded with their own long drive in the form of a 13-play, 69-yard drive that ended in an 8-yard Joe Burrow touchdown pass on the slant to Tyler Boyd, who beat Riq Woolen. What was pivotal on this drive was a 4th and 2 offsides penalty on Jarran Reed, which might have been just a hard count
attempt and not a real effort to go for it.

2nd Quarter
Seattle ended their opening quarter with a three-and-out, while the Bengals just marched down the field with Ja’Marr Chase racking up big catches and putting Cincinnati in the red zone. Rookie Andrei Iosivas capped things off with a 3-yard touchdown for his first NFL score, again with Woolen beaten.
The Seahawks had a promising drive end in Bengals territory after Geno was sacked on 3rd and long. DK Metcalf was wide open a couple of plays prior for a touchdown, but Smith didn’t throw his way. Metcalf was flagged for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on that same series for shoving Cam Taylor-Britt, but
Geno got them out of a 2nd and 21 jam with a deep pass to Tyler Lockett. For once, the Seahawks defense was able to hold Cincinnati to a short drive and their first punt.
Seattle had a pretty peculiar four-minute drill with more runs than you’d probably want to see, and then Geno was fortunate not to have a 3rd and 11 prayer intercepted. Jason Myers drilled his 55-yard field goal through the uprights.
Cincinnati’s one-minute drill went three-and-out, as Burrow threw two incomplete passes in Riq Woolen’s direction, and his improvised scramble drill play to avoid getting sacked ended in a short completion nowhere near the sticks. Geno got sacked to round out the opening 30 minutes.

Unfortunately, the Seahawks gave it right back. They had goal-to-go inside the 5 and then Ken Walker committed a low block penalty on 2nd and goal. The next snap was a Geno pick to Mike Hilton. A heavily covered Jaxon Smith-Njigba was the intended receiver.
Joe Burrow got one conversion to Tee Higgins, but that was as good as it got. Jarran Reed and Dre’Mont Jones both recorded sacks to force a punt. DeeJay Dallas sprung free for a 23-yard punt return into Bengals territory.
Jake Bobo made a huge play to set up a goal-to-go situation for the Seahawks. Geno found him open for 20 yards, then Dax Hill was flagged for a roughness penalty that saw Bobo go to the tent for a concussion check. Seattle’s red zone struggles continued, however, as Kenneth Walker was stuffed twice and then
Geno threw incomplete to Lockett. Jason Myers hit a 23-yard field goal to pull Seattle within 1.
4th Quarter
With 3rd and 1 at their own 45, the Bengals went power-heavy and ran it into the teeth of Seattle’s defense. Bad idea! Jordyn Brooks and Dre’Mont Jones were there to stymie Joe Mixon and prompt another Bengals punt.
After a big first down over the middle to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Geno Smith threw a pick to Cam Taylor-Britt, who returned it into Seahawks territory. DK Metcalf straight up stopped his route. Bad mistake by Metcalf on the miscommunication, but the Bengals offense gained 0 yards and settled for a 52-yard field goal,
which Evan McPherson nailed with 11:52 to go.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith struggled against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 6.
Geno Smith was gifted a roughing the passer call, but Ken Walker committed a drive-killing illegal block in the back on the next snap. Receivers were struggling to get open against Cincinnati’s secondary.
The defensive battle continued, as the Seahawks defense stepped up with a huge sack by Boye Mafe on Burrow. Jamal Adams made a clutch open field tackle on 3rd and 12 to get the ball back for the Seahawks with 6:17 left.
DK Metcalf got free for 30 yards into Bengals territory, and Geno scrambled to the red zone. On 3rd down, the Bengals blitzed but DK was open on the slant for the first-and-goal! Geno got sacked twice, including on 4th down.
Seattle still had two timeouts left and the two-minute warning, so another stop was needed. They got it with Tre Brown breaking up a 3rd and 6 deep shot to Tee Higgins, who committed OPI anyway. With 1:39 left and a timeout in hand, the Seahawks had another shot at redemption and the win.
Geno completed over the middle to Colby Parkinson for 8. An offside on Cincinnati gave them a free 5 and a first down. Tyler Lockett over the middle to the 10! Then Geno almost got picked in the end zone with :49 left. Ken Walker to the 8-yard line and a timeout called by the Bengals. Too high and incomplete on 3rd
down. 4th and ballgame with :41 left. Hit as he throws, incomplete.

Seahawks stars Geno Smith, DK Metcalf’s final injury statuses in Week 6 vs. Bengals, revealed
Seattle Seahawks fans are bound to have a sigh of relief as quarterback Geno Smith, wide receiver DK Metcalf, and offensive tackle Charles Cross are off the injury report according to NFL Networks’s Tom Pelissero.
This is very good news for the Seahawks which proved that the bye week helped key guys on the team to get healthy. Head coach Pete Carroll shares that same sentiment, per Seahawks.com writer John Boyle.
“We’re better than we were. There are some guys who are going to get a chance to jump back out, and it helps anybody that got banged up in the game,” Carroll said. “So we’re hoping this will be a really productive week for returning a few guys. So we’ll see how it goes.”
Progress in practice for Geno Smith and D.K. Metcalf
Smith, last year’s comeback player of the year, has led the Seahawks this season to a 3-1 record heading into this weekend as he’s thrown for 846 yards and eight touchdowns with only one interception. He was suffering from a knee injury that briefly took him out of their last game against the New York Giants on
Oct. 2. With all that time to rest, Carroll had the simple answer of “he’s fine” to the media last Monday even if he had a “questionable” injury tag.
As for Metcalf, the big-framed receiver has been dealing with a ribs injury all season and at points throughout practice this week, he was marked as “DNP.” Being off the injury report is a sign of progress moving forward as so far this season, he has collected 18 catches for 268 yards and two touchdowns.
Charles Cross returns following Week 1 injury
Helping to strengthen the offensive line, Cross being active for the game is key for the rush-centric game plan that Carroll and the Seahawks like to run. He hasn’t played since Week 1 where he sprained his toe in the win against the Detroit Lions, so Cross adds in run and pass protection for the squad. The 22-year-
old out of Mississippi State was drafted ninth overall in the 2022 draft and has been a foundation of the offensive line ever since.
Up next for the Seahawks is a tough test against the Cincinnati Bengals led by quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase who both are coming off of their season-best games. It’s safe to say that the Seahawks will have their hands full this Sunday.

To be active and to show that he gets this game of football, and it comes easy to him. He's an explosive, dynamic player. We got to put him at nickel for the first time. This was a process, getting
him back out there. We didn't have enough time, we though, to have him ready, although he's been working at it the whole time. He did a great job tonight, and you can see why we like him there.”
The pick six against Daniel Jones was the first interception of Devon Witherspoon's career. The Giants were close to making it a one-score game, then Witherspoon's interception essentially sealed the win.
Giants’ Daniel Jones sounds off on shocking Brian Daboll moment caught on camera
Story by Poch de la Rosa
New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones isn’t taking head coach Brian Daboll’s iPad tablet tossing incident personally. Jones aired his side on the controversial incident on Wednesday, per the New York Post’s Paul Schwartz.
“I mean, we were all frustrated. Just a costly mistake. I can’t afford to do that. We were all frustrated and that’s part of it,” Jones said.
Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton shared the same sentiments as Jones.
“He’s frustrated. Dabs is frustrated. I’m frustrated. Everybody’s frustrated. We’re losing, and it’s not going right. We’re missing plays, we’re not executing plays. I could break a tablet over my head. We all understand it. Nobody thinks any differently of Dabs or Daniel or their relationship,” Slayton said.
Darius Slayton also defended Daniel Jones, who incurred the wrath of Giants fans on social media following his horrendous performance on MNF.
“He’s a tough guy; that’s why I respect him a lot, that’s why our team respects him a lot. Because at the end of the day he goes out there and he fights his tail off to get us wins,” Slayton said.
The Seattle Seahawks embarrassed Daniel Jones’ Giants 24-3 on MNF. The “mistake” Jones referred to was his costly 97-yard pick-six to Seahawks rookie Devon Witherspoon. The defensive touchdown increased the deficit to 18 points and served as the final nail on the Giants’ coffin. Worse, the Seahawks pass
rush sacked Daniel Jones 11 times.
When Daniel Jones returned to the sideline, Brian Daboll got in his face and promptly chewed him out. Daboll tossed his iPad tablet onto the bench in utter frustration.

Seahawks QB Geno Smith confronts Giants after suffering injury on controversial tackle
Story by Angelo Guinhawa
Geno Smith got heated after he was hurt on Isaiah Simmons’ controversial tackle during the Seattle Seahawks-New York Giants Monday Night Football game.
Early in the second quarter, Smith was carrying the ball and tried to get out of bounds to avoid the Giants’ defense. However, as Simmons attempted to tackle him, he instead fell behind the Seahawks quarterback and eventually landed on the back of Smith’s legs as the signal-caller was falling down as well.
Taking the full weight of Simmons on his legs clearly hurt Smith, and he wasn’t happy with the play considering how dangerous and dirty it is. He then proceeded to the Giants sideline and confronted the defense, with Xavier McKinney getting into his face to defend his New York teammates.
While Geno Smith was able to have a heated moment with the Giants, his condition isn’t actually the best. He apparently sustained a knee injury and had to go to the medical tent to get checked. He was eventually sent to the locker room, with Drew Lock coming in to replace him.
Seattle listed him as questionable to return after that, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. Smith is the Seahawks’ second significant casualty of the night after Jamal Adams was also forced to leave the game earlier due to a head injury.
It’s definitely not a good sign for the Seahawks. While the severity of Smith’s injury has yet to be determined, the fact that he needed to step out of the game is guaranteed to raise some concerns.
If Smith ends up missing some more games moving forward, it will be quite the brutal blow for a Seattle team that has gotten off to a 2-1 start with the 32-year-old QB leading the way. Hopefully, though, the Seahawks only took him out as a precaution and that his injury isn’t significant.
UPDATE: Geno Smith returns to the game in the third quarter, per the Seahawks.

The Seattle Seahawks (3-1) defense had been much-maligned to start the season, but they unleashed fury on the hapless New York Giants (1-3) and thrashed them 24-3 at Metlife Stadium. Daniel Jones was sacked a whopping 11 times, threw two interceptions and lost a fumble.
Devon Witherspoon had an epic night, and I mean an epic night. The No. 5 overall pick had 7 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 pass defensed, and a back-breaking pick-six on Jones that shut the door on a Giants comeback. Bobby Wagner, Jordyn Brooks, and Uchenna Nwosu each had two sacks, and the Giants offense had just 248
yards of total offense.

The damper on things was the early concussion to Jamal Adams following his return from his quad injury. Several other Seahawks suffered injuries, including quarterback Geno Smith, who at least returned in the 2nd half after hurting his knee in the 2nd quarter. We’ll definitely be keeping tabs on the post-game injury
report but that bye week is welcome.
Seattle looked dreadful for the most part against the Los Angeles Rams on opening day, and have since rattled off three straight wins.
1st Quarter
The @Seahawks defense SHOWED UP tonight
11 sacks 2 INTs (including a pick-6)
3 points allowed
4 different players with multiple sacks
The Seahawks won the coin toss and started on defense for the first time this season. New York established the running game with Matt Breida, and found themse's at midfield pretty quickly. Jamal Adams, who missed a chance to sack Daniel Jones on his first blitz, announced his return with this vicious hit on Parris
Campbell. New York still converted a 3rd down with Jones finding an open receiver to the Seattle 36.
Adams was unfortunately helped off the field after Jones scrambled and as Jamal went low, Jones kneed him in the head inadvertently and probably concussed him. Two plays later, the Giants went for it on 4th and 1 at Seattle’s 28 and Daniel Jones was STUFFED on the sneak by Bobby Wagner and Jordyn Brooks.
Seattle’s first play... I cannot properly articulate what just happened. Kenneth Walker got the carry, was tackled for a loss in the backfield by Bobby Okereke... or so everyone thought. Walker just kept running because the whistle never blew. The initial play was a 73-yard touchdown, but it was overturned upon
review. Instead of a TD, a three-and-out for the Seahawks.
The Giants got a 16-yard run from Jones on a scramble, then Devon Witherspoon introduced himself to the quarterback.
“Is Taylor Swift not at this game? I thought she goes to MetLife for all the New York games,” asked Eli.
“If she was at this game, she left,” replied Peyton.
Ouch. he wasn’t wrong at all. It was a poorly played game that got better for the Seahawks but even worse for the Giants.
Manningface.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. A double dose of Manningface has to be worth a million words.
The Seahawks got the ball back, picked up a first down on a play-action pass to Noah Fant, and uh... flag, flag, more flags. They had flags on four consecutive snaps (one of them offsetting a pass interference), and found themselves at 1st and 25. Seattle battled back to 3rd and 8, converted with Geno to DK Metcalf,
except Metcalf stepped out of bounds so it’s officially incomplete. Weirdest. Quarter. Ever.
But we weren’t done! Daniel Jones got strip-sacked by Mario Edwards after initial pressure from Uchenna Nwosu. Jordyn Brooks got the recovery and ran it back inside the 10. DK Metcalf brilliantly snagged a pass in the end zone from Geno Smith to end the quarter!
Seahawks dominate Giants behind breakout Devon Witherspoon performance
2nd Quarter
The Giants once again mustered up just a single first down before shutting down, much to the annoyance of the crowd. Seattle not only punted it back, but Geno Smith got rolled up on after catching a pass that was batted right back to him. Isaiah Simmons landed on him making a tackle that started inbounds and
ended well out of bounds, much to Geno’s dislike. He stayed in for a 3rd down screen that was nearly picked off by Kayvon Thibodeaux.
Seattle had the Giants backed up at their own 2, but some big plays to Matt Breida in the passing game helped push New York into Seahawks territory. Devon Witherspoon was wreaking havoc in the backfield, punishing Giants players with some heavy hits. His 8-yard TFL forced the Giants into kicking a field goal,
which Graham Gano made from 55.
With Geno still getting his knee looked at, Drew Lock entered the game for his first regular season snaps as a Seahawk. He got Seattle to right near midfield, then on 3rd and 10 he rolled from pressure and found Noah Fant, who rumbled down the sidelines and somehow didn’t step out of bounds. Fant broke tackles
and got all the way to the 1-yard line, after the initial touchdown signal was reversed! Kenneth Walker punched it in from a yard out.
The Giants went three-and-out and Jones was lucky not to have a pick thrown to Riq Woolen. Seattle went three-and-out but Michael Dickson got run into and the Giants didn’t even get the ball back.
3rd Quarter
Geno Smith came back out to start the 2nd half, and the offense was finally humming both through the air and on the ground. However, faced with 4th and 1 in the red zone, the rollout to Zach Charbonnet was behind him and knocked away at the last minute for a turnover on downs. The Giants crowd was electric for
one of the few times all game, but the annoyance returned with two sacks and another three-and-out. A big punt return by DeeJay Dallas plus a hold on New York set the Seahawks up in Giant territory right away. Unfortunately, they only gained 5 yards and Jason Myers missed wide left from 53.
Seattle let the Giants hang around so much and the offense finally got into the red zone. After a failed 3rd and 3 run, the Giants went for it on 4th and 1 again instead of kicking a short field goal to cut it to 14-6. Boye Mafe lost contain and Jones got to the 5. Two plays later, Jones threw a pick-6 to Devon
Witherspoon! 97 yards to the house!
Seahawks CB Devon Witherspoon boosts rookie hype with bonkers feat no NFL player achieved before
Story by Jedd Pagaduan
The Seattle Seahawks made scoring an inordinately difficult endeavor for the New York Giants on Monday night, and it’s thanks in large part to the continued excellence of 22-year old cornerback Devon Witherspoon, the blue-chip prospect the Seahawks took with the fifth overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft. One play,
in particular, hyped up fans considerably. Witherspoon, with the Giants threatening to score in the red zone, snatched their hearts completely with an exhilarating 97-yard pick-six.
And on top of that enthralling defensive play, the burgeoning Seahawks star also tallied 2.0 sacks (making life more miserable for Daniel Jones) to go along with six tackles and one assist, stealing the show in his team’s 24-3 victory over the Giants. And in doing so, Witherspoon achieved an incredible feat that no one
in NFL history, rookie or not, has accomplished.
According to OptaSTATS, Devon Witherspoon is the only player in NFL history to tally at least 2.0 sacks and a 95+ yard touchdown in a single game. The caveat, of course, is that the NFL only began tracking sacks in 1982. Even then, that is an impressive feat for anyone in the NFL, much less a rookie. So to see the
Seahawks CB pull this off in just his third career game will bode well for his future as one of the best defensive players in the league.
In fact, Witherspoon, on the back of this incredible performance, has drawn early Defensive Player of the Year consideration, just an out and out validation of the work he’s put in during his brief professional career thus far. Only one of the greatest players of all time, Lawrence Taylor won the award as a rookie (in
1981), so the Seahawks defender could find himself in even greater company should he man age to pull that off.
Taylor, as one would recall, went on to have a Hall of Fame career, even winning the MVP award in 1986 on top of his two Super Bowl wins. If Devon Witherspoon manages to fashion himself a career that rivals that of Taylor’s, then the Seahawks will have themselves one of the greatest defensive players of his
generation. There’s a long way to go for sure, but Witherspoon is certainly showing that he’s worth all the hype.
4th Quarter
The sack party continued on poor Daniel Jones, who was nearly gotten by Devon Witherspoon for a third time, and actually sacked by Bobby Wagner for a second time and Uchenna Nwosu for the first time. Seattle went three-and-out, but the Giants gave it back on a Quandre Diggs pick. Jason Myers kicked a field
goal, Jones got sacked some more, and that wrapped it all up.

Will Ferrell and DK Metcalf IDENTICAL? 🤣 Ferrell's funniest moments with Peyton & Eli | Manningcast
Seahawks’ DK Metcalf touchdown vs Giants hilariously predicted by Will Ferrell on Manningcast
Actor Will Ferrell has a bright future in sports broadcasting after all. Ferrell hilariously predicted Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf’s touchdown against the New York Giants on Peyton and Eli Manning’s “Manningcast.”
The Seahawks had the ball on third and 22 with just five seconds left in the first quarter. Seattle quarterback Geno Smith dropped back and rolled to his right to avoid the Giants’ pass rush. At that point, Will Ferrell was imploring Geno Smith to throw the ball at the corner of the end zone where DK Metcalf stood.
Will Ferrell suddenly became a clairvoyant in front of a prime time national television audience on Monday Night Football.
Smith threw the ball in DK Metcalf’s direction just as Ferrell called it. It’s as if Will Ferrell was the Seahawks’ offensive coordinator on that play. Metcalf’s touchdown at the end of the first quarter put Seattle on the board.
“Ferrell! On the panel!” Peyton Manning yelled during the broadcast.
“I think that’s close enough,” his brother Eli Manning said.
Eli Manning, the former Giants quarterback, promptly took a cardboard cutoff of Will Ferrell and placed it right next to one of John McEnroe. Both men predicted plays correctly on the “Manningcast.”
DK Metcalf recently said knowledge and preparation set the best NFL players apart from the rest of the field. He showed his preparation in that last-second touchdown reception. To his credit, Will Ferrell also showed impressive preparation as a guest panelist on the “Manningcast.”
Can the Seahawks win their third game in a row and tug on the coattails of the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West division? On the other hand, can the Giants win without an injured Saquon Barkley? Stay tuned.

Seahawks news: DK Metcalf trolls Tyler Lockett with savage Happy Birthday message
Story by Eva Geitheim
The Seattle Seahawks are celebrating wide receiver Tyler Lockett’s birthday Thursday, ahead of their Monday Night Football game versus the New York Giants. The ninth-year Seattle receiver turned 31 years old.
At a press conference after practice, teammate DK Metcalf wished Lockett a happy birthday before joking, “What is he, 45?” per John Boyle.
Though the comment is greatly exaggerated for the veteran receiver who is just 31, it did prompt several laughs. This is far from the first time Metcalf has poked fun at his older teammate. Earlier this month, Metcalf was asked about how Lockett has grown in his career to which DK humorously replied with a joke
about Lockett’s 5-foot-10 height, “I don’t think Tyler’s grown since I’ve been here,” per Gregg Bell.
DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett have form one of the top receiving duos in the NFL since the Seahawks drafted Metcalf out of Ole Miss in the second round of the 2019 draft. Lockett has had four consecutive 1,000 yard receiving seasons since Metcalf arrived in Seattle while Metcalf has had at least 900 yards in all four of
those seasons. Metcalf and Lockett are off to another strong start in the 2023 season as Metcalf leads the team with 234 receiving yards while Lockett has 103 yards and two touchdowns.
September 28th is also the birthday of another special Seahawks receiver — Steve Largent. The Hall of Fame Seahawks receiver of the 1970s and 1980s shares a birthday with Lockett, which the Seahawks also celebrated on their social media pages.
Though Metcalf and Lockett have created a formidable duo, Largent remains the gold standard for Seahawks receivers as he still is the franchise’s all-time leader in receptions, yards, and touchdowns.

Coach Pete Carroll 'Fired Up!' For Bobo's First NFL TD
JAKE More BOBO’s TD Catch Vs Panthers.
After Seattle Seahawks head coach, Pete Carroll stated during Week 3 prep that the team hasn't seen enough of undrafted rookie Jake Bobo after a superb preseason campaign. But fans finally got a sighting of regular-season Bobo Mania against the Carolina Panthers at Lumen Field on Sunday.
The Seahawks took care of business 37-27 to move to 2-1 on the season, but it was Bobo's first NFL touchdown that caught the attention of the 12s late in the game.
With a little over four minutes left in the fourth quarter and facing a 2nd and 10, Geno Smith found Bobo in the back of the end zone, as he managed to barely get his feet inbounds on what was a superb catch.
To say that Carroll was happy for his receiver is an understatement.
"Loved it," Carroll said. "I was so fired up that Jake (Bobo) got that. We missed some opportunities to him today, but he's going to be a big factor. He did some really good things in this game today. I couldn't see how intricate it was at the back line, but I'm sure he did it perfectly. He would figure out how to get in
bounds. Great little play, great call, great throw by G (Geno Smith), and also to finish it off like that."
After impressing during the preseason games as he hauled in seven receptions for 125 yards and two touchdowns, Bobo was barely sighted in the first two games of the regular season.
With Seattle' already possessing offensive weapons in DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Bobo has naturally fallen down the pecking order.
But against the Panthers, he hauled in his first touchdown which helped the Seahawks put distance between themselves and Carolina.
Even Smith was delighted for Bobo to grab his first NFL score.
"Sweet, man," Smith said of Bobo's touchdown. "That was awesome. So happy for Jake, just all his hard work and seeing the way he's prepared. Since the day he got here he's done his thing, and so we were trying to get him the ball really in these first three games and he stuck with it, kept preparing, and it's just
great to see a guy works so hard to get that. He's very deserving of that."
The undrafted rookie opened his touchdown account and the Seahawks backed up their overtime win over the Detroit Lions last week by improving to 2-1.
The Seahawks will visit the New York Giants in Week 4 on Monday Night Football.
"8 False Starts!!! Way to go #12s!!"
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll credits major X-factor in Panthers’ false start galore
Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks improved their 2023 record to 2-1 with a 27-37 win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Throughout the game, Seahawks fans were very loud and created an intimidating environment for the Panthers.
After the contest, Carroll made sure to shout out the well known “12th Man,” as Seahawks fans are known, for their contributions to a number of Panthers false start penalties that were drawn throughout the afternoon.
“What a great impact they had,” said Carroll, per John Boyle.
Throughout the years, Seahawks fans have indeed established Lumen Field as one of the toughest environments for opposing teams to play in, and that was seen throughout Sunday’s games.
As for the Seahawks players themselves, they were equally as impressive against the Panthers. Quarterback Geno Smith put together an excellent performance, completing 23/36 pass attempts for 296 and one touchdown against one interception. Meanwhile, running back Kenneth Walker III took 18 carries for 97
yards and found the end zone two times on the afternoon.
The win is the Seahawks’ second straight victory, following up last week’s impressive overtime road win against the Detroit Lions, in which the team showed much resiliency. That occurred on the heels of a tough home loss to the Los Angeles Rams to open up the 2023 season.
This is why Seahawks fans are the best in the league. 8 false starts.
By Mookie Alexander@mookiealexander
The Seattle Seahawks (2-1) made sure the special day for the 2013 championship team wouldn’t be spoiled. It was a slow start for Seattle, who trailed 13-9 at one point against the Carolina Panthers (0-3), but Geno Smith and company were able to move the ball at will in the 2nd half and turn those early field goals
into touchdowns. The Seahawks outscored Carolina 25-14 after intermission, going up by as much as 17 points before allowing a garbage-time TD in the team’s 37-27 victory.
Smith threw for just shy of 300 yards and had a touchdown pass to rookie sensation Jake Bobo. Kenneth Walker had well over 100 yards of offense and a couple of touchdowns, and DK Metcalf battled through injury and had over 100 receiving yards. The Seahawks defense gave up some big plays to Andy Dalton, who
threw for 361 yards on a comical 58 attempts, but Carolina was one-dimensional and couldn’t run the ball at all. Seattle’s pass coverage had some strong moments in between the uglier ones, and the pass rush was relentless getting at Dalton.
The crowd was also awesome, forcing the Panthers into a whopping eight false starts. It was reminiscent of the 2005 win over the New York Giants, who jumped 11 times.
The only bad news? A lot of injuries. A lot. Of. Injuries.
Seahawks SPOIL Andy Dalton's Debut With Panthers @CBSports
1st Quarter
The Seahawks got the ball first for the third straight week, but unlike the last two weeks they failed to get points. Two pressures on three plays led to a punt. Andy Dalton got crunched on a 3rd down completion to Adam Thielen, and that hit by Julian Love resulted in a roughing penalty. Carolina got into the red zone
only for Boye Mafe to knock them backwards with an 11-yard sack. Then a hold on Tommy Tremble led to 3rd and 26. Adam Thielen caught a quick screen and Eddy Pineiro booted one through the uprights to put Carolina on the board.
Seattle benefited from an iffy face mask call on Justin Houston, which gave them a free 15 on a Ken Walker run. A big pass to DK Metcalf set them up in Carolina territory, but a 3rd and 1 direct snap to Walker was snuffed. On 4th and 1 at Carolina’s 29, Pete Carroll went for it and Walker just about got it. Iffy spot,
really bizarre measurement! Seattle would have to settle for a field goal, which Jason Myers converted from 43.
Carolina had another drive destroyed by a sack, this time courtesy of Jarran Reed and friends on a blitz.
2nd Quarter
Seattle got the ball back and it only took a few plays to get into Carolina’s red zone, with Geno hitting DK Metcalf deep down the field on a beautiful throw. Evan Brown wiped out a Zach Charbonnet run to the 3 by committing a holding penalty. A sack by Brian Burns backed them up, so Myers had to kick another field
goal to give the Seahawks the lead.
Andy Dalton got the ball back and the Panthers went three-and-out swiftly. The Seahawks started at their own 39 and it became the Ken Walker show. Two runs and two very successful plays, including a 36-yard scamper off a sick cut to the outside. Unfortunately the drive stalled out again and Seattle settled for 3
again.
The Panthers finally sustained a drive into Seattle territory, off the back of a nifty 15-yard run by Miles Sanders. On 3rd and 10 from the 47, Dalton found a wide open DJ Chark on a busted coverage for a 47-yard touchdown.
Geno nearly threw a pick on 1st down, got sacked on 2nd down, then actually picked on 3rd down. He was looking for Jaxon Smith-Njigba and found the linebacker Deion Jones instead, setting up Carolina at the 28. Carolina false started and were behind the sticks from the start, and the Seahawks defense held firm.
Eddy Pineiro made another field goal.
Geno responded with a 20-yard throw to Metcalf, and then a 22-yard catch-and-run by DK to put the Seahawks in the red zone. Three straight incomplete passes ensued, resulting in another field goal attempt for Myers to close the gap to 1.
The toes though! Playing like a vet! #Seahawks #MoreBobo
3rd Quarter
The Panthers went three-and-out to start the half, so a good start for the defense. Again the Seahawks were able to move the ball effectively down the field, but pressure from Justin Houston forced a 3rd and 4 incomplete pass by Geno. Jason Myers put one through from 39 to give Seattle the lead.
DJ Chark made a ridiculous catch along the sidelines for 28 yards on Mike Jackson, which was doubly bad because Pete Carroll threw the challenge flag and lost. The Panthers were in field goal range but Pineiro missed wide right from 55.
The Seahawks were backed up after a blindside block penalty on DK Metcalf, who went too far on a Ken Walker run. No problem because on 1st and 21, Geno found Walker wide open for 36 yards deep into Carolina territory. Noah Fant was open in the middle of the field to set up the first goal-to-go for either team in
the game. Two Walker runs got the Seahawks to the 1. The third one scored the Seahawks’ first TD.
Devon Witherspoon thought he had a 3rd down stop but was flagged for a very debatable pass interference. The next 3rd down was heaved down the field for Adam Thielen, who beat Artie Burns for a big conversion. Thielen was open on a shallow crosser and got to the 1-yard line to end the quarter.
4th Quarter
Miles Sanders scored his first touchdown as a Panther to open the 4th, cutting the lead back down to 2.
Two throws to tight ends yielded first down plays by Colby Parkinson and Noah Fant. The Fant catch put the Seahawks in Carolina territory once again. Then it was the Zach Charbonnet show on three consecutive carries, including an extra few yards because of a stupid body slam penalty by Deion Jones. Ken Walker
came in and finished things off with a 7-yard score.
Carolina really was in must-score territory and things were going well up until a comical sequence of back-to-back false starts put them at 3rd and 14. Then after Dalton threw incomplete, Frank Reich opted to punt and then the Panthers false started for an EIGHTH time in the game.
After a Seahawks three-and-out, Carolina had one more chance and did pretty much nothing with it. Dalton had a 4th and 2 conversion to Miles Sanders negated by an illegal shift, and then Jarran Reed sacked Dalton to force the turnover on downs.
The Seahawks went into bully ball mode and Zach Charbonnet made this poor Panthers defender almost slide into the locker room. Then it was Jake Bobo time for his first NFL touchdown! He tapped the toes, and got his first score. Then Geno and Lockett did this ridiculousness.
LOL: Seahawks RB Ken Walker handed out a COLD MUSCLE RELAXER!!
Dalton got a garbage-time drive going and Adam Thielen scored a deserved TD for his efforts.

‘In this house we worship Bobo’ - Seahawks fans react to 37-27 win
The Seattle Seahawks had themselves a day. After an overtime thriller against the Detroit Lions, they came out a bit sluggish against an injury-plagued and overmatched Carolina Panthers squad starting Andy Dalton at quarterback. Well, if you are a Seahawks fan (which I am assuming you probably are), you are
aware that this team has struggled to beat Mr. Dalton in the past. Heading into today’s game, they were 1-3 against the former TCU Horned Frogs star. Well, now you can update that record to 2-3.
The Seahawks were suffering from a plethora of injuries, as well, and for much of the first half, this looked like it was turning into another half-hearted snoozer of a performance at home. Fortunately, Jason Myers shook off his early season rust and made five straight field goals to give the team a 15-13 lead early in
the third quarter; a lead they would continue to pile on for the rest of the game. He wasn’t the only sharp player in this win, as the team saw a pair of their highly drafted rookies — Devon Witherspoon and Zach Charbonnet — make an impression on the field... and on opposing players. Even Jake Bobo got in on the
action! And I guess you could say this got some people talking...

Want to feel nostalgic? The Seattle Seahawks have got you covered.
Sunday’s home game against the Carolina Panthers will feature a halftime ceremony honoring the ten-year anniversary of the first and only Super Bowl championship team in franchise history, and there will be dozens upon dozens of former players and coaches in attendance. Bobby Wagner, of course, will actually be
playing in the game.
The Seahawks had a walkthrough on Saturday, and we got to see the family reunite for a special photo.
Unfortunately, no Earl Thomas in the picture. Brandon Browner is still in prison so he obviously couldn’t be here, and Russell Wilson is in Miami for the Broncos-Dolphins game. You still get the majority of the champions in for one happy reunion.
Everyone will be real happy if the 2023 Seahawks honor the 2013 Seahawks with a W.

Seahawks WR DK Metcalf explains what he believes separates good and great players in the NFL
Story by Tim Crean
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf is a good — maybe even great — NFL wide receiver. He is 6-foot-4, 235 pounds, looks like a Greek god, and runs as fast as Olympic sprinters. Still, despite all his physical gifts, ahead of the Seahawks Week 3 game against the Carolina Panthers, Metcalf says success in the
NFL is more about brains than brawn.
“I believe [preparation] is what separates a lot of the good players from the great players,” DK Metcalf said on the KG Certified show with NBA Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett. “How much knowledge they retain from the week.”
Metcalf went on to tell KG that he started watching a ton of film with a wide receivers coach a few years ago, and studying how cornerbacks and safeties like to play, how they cover and tackle, and what their tendencies are.
The Seahawks wideout also studies the greats. Metcalf listed his favorite former NFL WRs to watch on tape as Calvin Johnson, Terrell Owens, Randy Moss, and Julio Jones. The Mississippi native also said that “Megatron” was his favorite player growing up.
This season, Metcalf’s tape study and knowledge retention are starting to pay off. He only had three catches in Week 1 for 47 yards, but he did catch a touchdown. In Week 2, he grabbed all six of his targets from Geno Smith and put up 75 rushing yards.
Ahead of the Seahawks Week 3 tilt with the Panthers, DK Metcalf studied corners CJ Henderson and Donte Jackson as well as safeties Xavier Woods and Vonn Bell. One top CB he will not face is Jaycee Horn, who is on injured reserve.

The Seattle Seahawks (1-1) had injuries entering the game and during the game, but they still pulled off a stunning 37-31 overtime win over the Detroit Lions (1-1) in a topsy-turvy thriller. Geno Smith threw for over 300 yards and a pair of touchdowns to Tyler Lockett, including the game-winner in overtime on the
first possession.
The defense gave up a lot of yards but forced three turnovers, including a first career interception and pick-6 by Tre Brown. They also did well to hold the Lions out of the end zone with Detroit starting at midfield in the last possession of regulation, as well as force two turnovers on downs.
It was another shootout, it was a gut check win, and the Seahawks are back in business after the despair of their opening day performance.

How Geno Smith's ability to 'flush' his memory paid off in overtime win over Lions
Dan Campbell postgame media availability | 2023 Week 2: Lions vs. Seahawks
1st Quarter
The Seahawks began on offense first, and things started brightly with a chunk play for Kenneth Walker on the first snap. Detroit gifted Seattle a cheap first down by having 12 on the field on a 3rd and 2. A big throw from Geno Smith to DK Metcalf put the Seahawks in the red zone on their opening drive. Another 3rd
down strike to DK set up 1st and goal at the 1. A false start penalty on Phil Haynes backed them up, but CJ Gardner-Johnson got a roughness flag for too much physicality on Ken Walker after the play was over. A DPI in the end zone put Seattle back at the 1-yard line. Kenneth Walker walked in on 2nd and goal.
Detroit responded emphatically with a 7-play, 75-yard drive in which they never even touched 3rd down. Jared Goff found Josh Reynolds down the middle of the field for a 22-yard touchdown in between Julian Love and Quandre Diggs.
2nd Quarter
Detroit started at their own 10 but that didn’t deter them whatsoever. Jared Goff continued to find open receivers, Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery did damage in the run game, but the Seahawks defense finally had an answer. Rookie Devon Witherspoon broke up a pass intended for fellow rookie Sam LaPorta on
4th and 4 in field goal range. Turnover on downs!
Seattle had back-to-back first down completions by Geno Smith, first to Tyler Lockett for 11 and then to Noah Fant for 32. The drive stalled from there and Jason Myers yanked one so far to the left from 45 that it probably hit one of the hot dog vendors.
The Seahawks thought they had a 3rd down stop but Devon Witherspoon was flagged for pass interference. Then the rookie got caught out on a flea flicker and Kalif Raymond was wide open for a 36-yard touchdown.
Seattle had a good drive going but opted to punt on 4th and 3 from the Detroit 43, as any sensible person would. Thankfully the Lions quickly went three-and-out and Seattle got the ball back. They got into field goal range but Myers missed from 56. Amon-Ra St. Brown burned Tre Brown deep on the final play but
lost a fumble as time expired.

Ref tells Geno Smith ‘I’m talking to America’ as he tries to argue call
This NFL ref dropped an incredible line while calling Geno Smith for grounding
A heavily-debated ruling by the referees during the third quarter of the Seattle Seahawks vs. Detroit Lions game gave way to an instant classic soundbite during Week 2 of the NFL season.
Seahawks QB Geno Smith dropped back to pass and thought his receiver, Tyler Lockett, was running a go route to the end zone. Smith threw the ball deep, but Lockett wasn’t on the same page, and chose to break off to his route short.
The refs called the play intentional grounding, which made Smith and Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll livid. As Smith pleaded with the official, the ref looked at him and said “I’m talking to America here.”
FOX color commentator Greg Olsen immediately said “that’s the best line I’ve ever heard out of an official,” and he’s not wrong. Stop complaining Geno, I’m talking to America here!
Here’s the play that led to “I’m talking to America here.” Smith is inside the tackle box, and the throw isn’t close to the receiver. He isn’t pressured, so it’s not like he’s trying to get rid of the ball. Did the refs make the correct call here?
Smith and Lockett would get their revenge later in the game. The duo connected on the game-winning touchdown in overtime to give Seattle a 37-31 win. Watch that play here.
Smith and Lockett were electric in Week 2 to give Seattle its first win of the season, but at least for a few minutes, the sassy ref was the real star of the show.
3rd Quarter
The Seahawks started the 2nd half on defense and got a fumble! Uchenna Nwosu forced the fumble on David Montgomery and Jarran Reed was there. Two plays later, Kenneth Walker III cut to daylight for a tying score.
The Lions needed only three plays to get into the end zone, and then they were in the end zone on a screen pass to David Montgomery. However, a very iffy OPI on Josh Reynolds nullified the score. Detroit went for it on 4th and 3 from Seattle’s 11. A nifty shovel pass to St. Brown produced the conversion. David
Montgomery wasn’t denied on 3rd and goal, scoring from four yards out.
Seattle went for it on 4th and 1 at their own 41, and Walker converted to move the sticks. The Seahawks again moved into Lions territory and had goal to go. Unfortunately, the passing game stalled in the red zone and Jason Myers had to come on and at least made this kick.
The Lions again went for it on 4th and 2, this time at their own 45, but Jordyn Brooks pressured Jared Goff and his pass to Josh Reynolds was incomplete. Devon Witherspoon was in coverage and tangled feet caused them both to fall, so no PI.
4th Quarter
The Seahawks marched into the red zone with a chance to take the lead. A clear miscommunication with Tyler Lockett was deemed intentional grounding, to Pete Carroll’s disbelief. It didn’t matter, because Geno found Lockett on 3rd and 10 for a conversion inside the 5. On 2nd and goal, it was that combo again for
the go-ahead score!
Tre Brown had a bit of a struggle for the afternoon, but then he bounced back with the first sack of Jared Goff all day, and then a pick-six after Uchenna Nwosu hurried Goff into a poor throw. Brown’s first pick is a touchdown, in for the injured Riq Woolen!
The Lions answered back with a 10-play, 75-yard drive ending in a touchdown to Josh Reynolds, who beat Brown on this occasion. A lot of time was taken off the clock, so just 3:08 left.
Just when it looked like the Seahawks had a clutch 3rd down conversion to Colby Parkinson, he was flagged for OPI. A 3rd and 8 became 3rd and 18. Geno took the worst sack imaginable and scrambled his way into a 17-yard loss.
The Lions got the ball back at midfield with 1:44 to go. Goff with the throw over the middle to Josh Reynolds to the 39. Reymond on an end-around gained another first down. Gibbs on the checkdown to the 24. Incomplete to St. Brown to set up 3rd and 7. A checkdown to Gibbs set up Riley Patterson for a tying field
goal from 38 yards out. He got it.
Overtime
The Seahawks won the coin toss. Geno to Fant on play-action got to the 42. A botched screen (what else is new?) was tossed into the dirt. Another pass to Fant gained a few more yards. DK caught the 3rd and 6 throw to Detroit’s 39. Colby Parkinson got open and dashed to the Lions’ 14. Kenneth Walker whirling
dervish’d his way for four yards to the 10. Short throw to Metcalf setting up 3rd and 1 at the Detroit 5. LOCKETT WITH THE CATCH AND JUST BREAKS THE PLANE FOR THE WINNING SCORE!!!

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll’s 5-word Tyler Lockett message after walk-off win over Lions
Story by Dan Fappiano
In their epic battle against the Detroit Lions in Week 2, the Seattle Seahawks earned the opening possession of overtime. It didn’t take long for Tyler Lockett to make his mark on the contest and send the Seahawks home happy.
Geno Smith and the offense were able to drive the ball to the Lions’ six-yard line. Once there, with just under six minutes left in overtime, Lockett caught a touchdown pass from Smith and secured Seattle’s 37-31 victory. Head coach Pete Carroll couldn’t be happier seeing Lockett’s heroics, via Gregg Bell of the
Tacoma News Tribune.
“I hope he plays forever,” Carroll said of Lockett.
While his overtime touchdown catch stole the show, Lockett was a huge contributor for the Seahawks throughout the entire contest. He finished the game with a team-high eight receptions for 59 yards and two touchdowns. The win marked Seattle’s first of the 2023.
Pete Carroll is no stranger to watching Lockett shine. The wide receiver was drafted by Carroll and company back in 2015. He has become a focal point of the offense, earning both a Pro Bowl nod and an All-Pro nomination during his time in Seattle.
While Lockett is going on 32-years-old, Pete Carroll is hoping Tyler Lockett and his playmaking ability never leave Seattle. His performance against the Lions was just a long line of games in which the wide receiver has come up clutch for the Seahawks.
As they continue on throughout the 2023, Carroll will be looking for Lockett to continue his explosive play. If it were up to him, Lockett’s explosiveness would never cease to end.
Pete Carroll drops fire Devon Witherspoon take ahead of Seahawks debut
Story by Mike Cruz
Seattle Seahawks rookie Devon Witherspoon will finally make his debut on Sunday in their NFL Week 2 game versus the Detroit Lions. Asked about Witherspoon’s highly-anticipated debut, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll couldn’t contain his enthusiasm for the 22-year-old.
“We’re really excited for him,” Carroll said. “[Witherspoon] is a real fireball. He’s loving the fact that he finally gets to play. He hasn’t had a shot yet. This is his first game. He’s got to get his feet on the ground, making sure he’s not flying too high because he’s a really fired up kid.”
The Seahawks selected Witherspoon with the fifth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. The cornerback failed to make his debut in Seattle’s season opener due to a hamstring injury.
Carroll confirmed on Friday that Witherspoon is good to go and he said that the rookie had a great couple of weeks, even when he was limited with the injury. The coach also added that Witherspoon’s “juice” is obvious whenever he is on the field, which just shows how amped up he is to make his debut.
Witherspoon had an outstanding four-year career at Illinois. In his senior campaign, the Pensacola, Florida native was one of the 12 finalists for the Jim Thorpe award, which was given to the nation’s top defensive back. He won the 2022 Tatum–Woodson Defensive Back of the Year, which honors the top defensive back in the Big Ten Conference.
In 12 games, Witherspoon recorded 738 snaps. He also tallied 32 tackles, seven assists, 16 stops, 14 pass break ups, and three interceptions.
It will be interesting to see how much energy and impact Witherspoon will have in his professional football debut.

Seahawks turn in giant turdburger of a performance, drop season opener 30-13 to Rams
The offense was bad, the defense was worse, and the Seahawks are 0-1.
The Seattle Seahawks (0-1) are in trouble. It’s just one game, but that was as bad a sign about the season to come as you could get for Week 1.
It was a 2nd half collapse of epic proportions on both sides of the ball, as the Seahawks turned a 13-7 halftime lead against the Los Angeles Rams (1-0) to a 27-13 loss. The heavily hyped offense not only lost both Charles Cross and Abe Lucas to injuries, but even when healthy were just not in sync and generally
conservative. Matthew Stafford threw for over 300 yards even without Cooper Kupp, including 119 yards apiece for rookie Puka Nacua and third-year receiver Tutu Atwell.
How bad was the 2nd half on both sides of the ball? At one point the Rams outgained the Seahawks 250-3 (Seattle had 12 yards after one garbage time run). That is not a typo. It was a disgusting showing with key injuries on both sides of the ball. Yes, it’s the Rams, but that looked like a bad team that we were supposed to see for much of 2022.
Geno Smith was just 16/26 for 112 yards and a touchdown, and he wasn’t helped by the offensive line being reduced to Stone Forsythe and Jake Curhan at tackle. Kenneth Walker had 64 yards on 12 carries but Seattle barely possessed the ball and he didn’t have a lot of opportunities to make any plays.
DK Metcalf had the Seahawks’ only touchdown.
We all know that band who we loved as a kid or teenager. The one that released albums you couldn’t stop listening to when you were 13, but now that you’re older some of the songs don’t hit the same. However, there’s just enough of them where you can play them now and still be put back to where you were as a 13-year-old.
Well, Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford and head coach Sean McVay were playing all the hits in Sunday’s 30-13 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, and the Stafford masterpiece was incredibly fun to watch on the film. McVay and Stafford were in tune into everything that the Seahawks were doing, and it was
clear that McVay has a lot of fun dialing up passing designs that he knows Stafford will execute at the highest level, without having to be Madden user’d.
Stafford was locked in at every level of the field, and one of the things McVay would do to pry open holes in the Seahawk defense was use motion as a part of the design. On this big completion to Tutu Atwell, the Rams begin in a 2x2 set, with a tight end on the line of scrimmage. Atwell goes in motion before the
snap, creating a 3x1 with only the lone tight end on the LOS to one side, called a “nub” set. However, the ball is snapped while Atwell is still making his way across, so it essentially becomes kind of like an arena football play. Atwell is really really fast, so giving him a running start on this play is giving the advantage to the Rams.
Now let’s get into the design. The Seahawks are in Quarter-Quarter-Halves defense, and for them when the Rams got into 3x1 sets, they played quarter to the isolated TE side, allowing the backside safety to cut off any over routes that would come across. The Rams know this, so they send Nacua on an over route to
briefly occupy the safety and backside corner. Then, instead of breaking in on this dagger-style of play, WR Van Jefferson breaks towards the sideline, opening a window for Atwell. You can see both safeties’ body language change as Jefferson breaks out, and then Stafford throws this ball through the closing window
for a big play. Stafford was feeling it Sunday.
This is another big completion to Atwell, once again putting him in motion and playing with the Seahawks tendencies and rules. The Rams are in empty, but short motion Atwell into a bunch formation to Stafford’s right. The Seahawks are in Cover 1, but with the bunch, Atwell gets a free release. The Seahawks DB
believes that Atwell is going to run an over route, putting himself in a good trail technique. Then, Atwell breaks back towards the sideline, and Stafford drops it into a bucket. Keep playing those hits, man.
McVay was locked in on Sunday, but Stafford was also playing at an extremely high level. Since acquiring the star QB, McVay has called a lot more hi--lo concepts to allow Stafford to mess with intermediate level defenders using arm angles and eye manipulation. This is a basic hi--lo concept out of a 2x2 formation,
and the Seahawks are in Cover 3. Stafford has to get the underneath defender (#8 for Seattle) to make a decision. If he wants to hit WR Puka Nacua on this play, he has to get the defender to bite on the hook route.
And that’s exactly what happens. Chain moving first down.
You can see it on the end zone angle as well. When Stafford works his way back to the hi--lo, he gives a quick look to the TE, forcing 8 to make a decision. High, high level QB play.
Stafford was using arm angles and subtle pump fakes all game, a sign of a QB who is in the zone. This wheel route to TE Tyler Higbee is a perfect example. From the endzone angle, you can see Stafford do a quick pump fake, then lay this one in the breadbasket.
However, this was my favorite throw of the day for Stafford. Third down and 8, in the fourth quarter. The Rams send Tutu Atwell in motion and run a flood concept to Stafford’s right. Atwell runs a go route to take away the cornerback, but the nickel defender is in a great spot to break this pass up. He’s on the inside,
there’s no way this play is made.
Doesn’t matter. Stafford to Nacua. Chain mover. That’s an F-U throw if I’ve ever seen one.
The Rams are in a weird spot this year, where the talent on the roster might not be strong enough to make the playoff runs we’re used to seeing from them. However, if Stafford and McVay are this in sync, they’re going to be tough to defend for any team that plays them.
Pete Carroll on Detroit 2023-09-14
DK Metcalf may very well be sending money to the NFL for this shot on Ahkello Witherspoon late in the Seattle Seahawks’ disappointing 30-13 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
As Witherspoon was helped off the field by medical personnel, Rams' coach Sean McVay yelled "that's so bad!" toward the officials.
Metcalf was eventually flagged 15 yards for taunting, turning 2nd-and-2 into 2nd-and-17. After consecutive sacks of Smith, the Seahawks faced 4th-and-34 and were forced to punt, effectively ending any faint hopes of a comeback.
After the game, Metcalf attempted to explain - and defend - his hit that will likely draw a fine from the league office.
"Well, I was blocking," Metcalf said. "I guess I blocked him a little too hard and pushed him to the ground, and he got up mad because he felt like I blocked him in the back. But I mean, that’s just how I play. I block every play when I don’t have the ball and I’m never taking a play off or jogging, trying to take a play
off. So that’s what transpired."
In 2022, Metcalf was flagged eight times, including two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and one taunting penalty.
1st Quarter
The Seahawks began the season with the ball on offense. Geno Smith threw a couple of completions to Tyler Lockett, including on 3rd down to move the chains. The next 3rd down was a big gain to the Rams 25 by DK Metcalf on a scramble drill by Smith. Yet again Seattle converted on 3rd down, albeit via defensive
pass interference penalty on Cobie Durant. The next 3rd down was a 3rd and 16 and Smith’s roll and throw to Lockett in the end zone was knocked away. Jason Myers booted a 36-yarder through the uprights.
The first defensive play for the Seahawks was a run stuff by Bobby Wagner on Cam Akers for no gain. From there it was largely positive plays for the Rams, who were in Seahawks territory in no time. A 3rd and 4 conversion with Kyren Williams put the Rams in field goal range. Another 3rd down conversion to Van
Jefferson put the Rams at Seattle’s 25. LA made it 4-for-4 on 3rd down with an open Higbee to set up 1st and goal. Even with 1st and goal from the 17 after a penalty, the Rams still scored with a one-yard touchdown for Kyren Williams. Rookie Puka Nacua made that possible with a 16-yard gain on 2nd and goal, with
a missed pick by Coby Bryant and a bad tackle by Tre Brown.
2nd Quarter
The Seahawks offense responded with an effective mix of positive runs from Ken Walker and short passes from Geno Smith. Rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught a shallow crosser to the 11. Two plays later, to cap off a 12-play, 75-yard drive, Geno found a wide open DK Metcalf after Metcalf smoked Derion Kendrick on a blitz.
A face mask penalty and false start on left tackle Alaric Jackson torpedoed the Rams’ second drive. Sean McVay essentially gave up on 1st and 30 and we saw our first punt. A nice return by DeeJay Dallas set the Seahawks up at midfield. Kenneth Walker set up the Seahawks in field goal range, but that’s as far as
they would go. Jason Myers booted one through from 42 to extend the lead.
It took only three plays for the Rams to set to the Seahawks 40, with Stafford finding Nacua and Brycen Hopkins for consecutive first downs. However, the drive stalled and the Rams went for a 57-yard field goal attempt with Brett Maher. His first kick as a Ram was blocked by Jarran Reed and returned by Mike
Jackson to the Rams 43.
It would all be for naught. Seattle got into field goal range but Jason Myers missed from 39 after hitting the upright. Luckily the Rams missed from 56 to head into the locker room, giving us a hat trick of missed field goals.
3rd Quarter
The Rams could’ve at least tied the game if not for a horrible drop by Van Jefferson, who was left alone and only had Diggs to beat in the open field. Seattle wasn’t so lucky when Tutu Atwell got behind the defense for a 44-yard gain to set up 1st and goal at the 8-yard line. Kyren Williams scored two plays later for his second of the afternoon.
Seattle went three-and-out and lost both tackles Charles Cross and Abe Lucas to injury. Not ideal! Again the Rams were able to march down the field easily, primarily off a big catch-and-run by TE Tyler Higbee, who beat new signing Julian Love. Dre’Mont Jones hurried Stafford into an incomplete pass on 3rd down,
forcing a rare 3rd down stop and a Maher field goal to extend the Rams’ lead. Another punt by the Seahawks was compounded by a concussion check for Tyler Lockett.
4th Quarter
Stafford carved up the Seahawks secondary some more and was seldom pressured. Tutu Atwell went for over 100 yards receiving on the day. Just when it looked like the Seahawks forced another field goal attempt, Tre Brown was flagged for illegal use of hands to the face. Julian Love made a clutch pass break-up on 3rd and goal at the 1, but Cam Akers walked in on 4th and goal on the toss.
The offense stalled some more, the defense kept giving up big plays to Tutu Atwell and Puka Nacua. Stafford nearly got Nacua for a touchdown over Riq Woolen, but he overthrew him and the Rams settled for a 54-yard field goal try from Brett Maher. To wrap things up, Maher got one more field goal to close out the scoring.

How Seahawks' DK Metcalf unwinds away from NFL field
The Seahawks' star dives into some of his off-field passions in an exclusive interview.
Author: Paul Silvi
RENTON, Wash. — When DK Metcalf was asked this summer to name who he thinks are the top receivers in the NFL, he left himself off the list.
When KING 5 sat down with DK this summer and asked him to give the favorite highlight from his career so far, he quickly deferred and said he'd rather talk about Tyler Lockett's best catches.
That speaks to the character of the Seahawks' 25-year-old receiver. He may not act like it on the field, but he's as humble as they come off it.
Instead, DK wanted to focus on his off-field passions, including his personal style.
"I think the fashion comes from me just being inspired by other athletes," said Metcalf. "I want to get my feet wet in that area and in that realm that I'm unfamiliar with, so just taking on another challenge and another avenue I think I can be successful in."
Metcalf has hopes of taking all of his skills to the big screen someday. He's been taking acting lessons for the last two years.
"It was difficult at first because I'm a guy who doesn't like to show his emotions off the field," explained Metcalf, who couldn't help but laugh at what he just said. "It's a learning curve I'm steadily getting around, but it's going to be helpful to me."
Metcalf likes the possibility of ending up in a horror movie, although he isn't ready to be slain on screen just yet.
"I would say action first, but then horror. I'm a big horror movie guy. I can scream," he says, as he lets out another big laugh. He said he's not prepared to die in a movie, because, "I can run fast!"
Metcalf and his Seahawks teammates will take the field for the start of training camp on July 26.
Catch all three of the Seahawks' 2023 preseason games televised locally on KING 5, beginning August 10 with a matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

Seahawks unveils throwback uniforms for 2023 with epic video
Seattle saw one of the state’s greatest sports stars, Marshawn Lynch, make an appearance at the MLB Home Run Derby. Iconic is as iconic does.
Seattle Seahawks legend Marshawn Lynch came, saw, and conquered at the MLB 2023 Home Run Derby on Monday. This year’s All-Star week was being hosted by Seattle at T-Mobile Park, and the former Seahawks running back couldn’t resist having some fun at the glorified sports event.
Lynch proudly sauntered onto the field with the Home Run Derby trophy in hand prior to the competition, lifting the brass for all of Seattle to see as if to say: Look. Look at the Lombardi Trophy I could have won if they had just given me the d— ball.
But alas, the main sport of the day was baseball, not football, and Mets’ Pete Alonso, Blue Jays’ Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Mariners’ Julio Rodriguez were among the participants of the annual Home Run Derby. Let the games begin.
Amid the cheerful festivities of the derby, Lynch seemed less interested in watching the MLB’s most powerful sluggers go to work and more interested in… stealing swag.
Not long after the derby began, a video circulated of Lynch acting sketchy on the field. Lynch weaved between reporters and cameramen with his pockets stuffed with baseballs, walking cautiously as if he expected security guards to pop out of nowhere and arrest him for stealing said balls.
On his way out, Lynch was nice enough to stop and sign some memorabilia for kids — or was it all just part of the act?
Who knows. Some Twitter users thought Lynch was America’s most relatable sports star, others thought he was just a plain weirdo. Take a look and decide for yourself:
Oh yeah, and he also snatched up a pillow presumably given to members of the All-Star team and hid it under his shirt. The baseballs, the pillow, some other random merch: Lynch appeared to be pulling off some kind of secret robbery, and he had a hell of a time doing it. From Beast Mode to Heist Mode, Lynch sure
knew how to make a name for himself.
The five-time Pro-Bowler has made headlines in the past as any rambunctious, high-energy football player would. His most famous meme may be the one during the Seahawks’ Super Bowl media session in 2015 when he notoriously commented, “I’m here so I won’t get fined.”
During the Major League Baseball All-Star festivities on Monday night at T-Mobile Park, Lynch was honored before an adoring crowd.
Lynch, who was the No. 12 pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, started his career with the Buffalo Bills.

NFL world buzzing over Seattle Seahawks uniforms announcement
Story by Chris Novak
The Seattle Seahawks are going retro. On Monday, the team teased that they would reveal an iconic throwback uniform to their jersey collection this week. Seattle announced that they would turn back the clock on Wednesday and sport their original threads.
“Throwbacks. 8:32 am. Wednseday,” the Seahawks tweeted. The team posted a fun video featuring a definite retro vibe, with posts of Dave Krieg, Steve Largent, as well as dial-up internet, a lava lamp, and many other retro items.
The video made the rounds and received almost unanimously favorable attention. The Seahawks haven’t worn these uniforms since they ditched them after the 2001 season. Seattle wore an all-blue home look for a while until it revamped after the 2011 season to its current look. Their current threads are most
memorable for being the ones they wore when they won Super Bowl XLVIII in 2013.
That jersey, though, is a great look that might look even better nowadays. The advent of more functional TV cameras with sharper images might make that old blue and grey pop like it never has before. Especially with the backdrop of Lumen Field as opposed to the Kingdome. Although, they did once play at Husky
Stadium while Lumen Field was being built. So the jersey will make its third trip to a third different stadium in Seattle.
"Get on Rookie, Seahawks 2023 Season is where were Going!!"
Ohio State's Jaxson Smith-Njigba.
"Smith-Njigba is a perfect fit for the Seattle offense," said Sports Illustrated. "And while he might start the season a little slow as most Seahawk receivers do, he could be a league-winner down the stretch."
In one of the most bizarre career endings imaginable, popular veteran tight end Luke Willson re-joined the Seattle Seahawks during training camp prior to the 2021 season, only to announce his retirement less than 24 hours later.
At the time, while he cited a prior health scare as factoring into his decision to step away, Willson's 180 degree turn baffled fans. But two years later, guest starring on the KJ All Day Podcast with former teammate K.J. Wright, he revealed additional details that made his decision far more understandable.
As Willson explained to Wright, the Seahawks reached out with interest in signing him towards the tail end of training camp and the preseason. But there was a catch.
After rushing in for a physical, signing his contract, and playing in the preseason finale, the team would cut him and then re-sign him to their practice squad with the promise he would be active for the season opener.
While such shenanigans may be viewed as cold-hearted, especially for a player and leader like Willson who had spent most of his career in Seattle as a reliable all-around tight end, these procedures aren't abnormal for signing aging veterans in training camp. By releasing him before the start of the season, the
organization wouldn't be on the hook for any guaranteed money, and bringing him back on the practice squad would provide invaluable veteran depth with COVID-19 protocols still in place.
Initially, the then-31-year-old Willson was on board with going through the charade. Even after being in the emergency room earlier in the offseason with an undisclosed heart issue, his heart was set on playing football, and he valued the opportunity to play for the Seahawks again before calling it a career.
However, after playing for two Super Bowl teams in the Pacific Northwest and participating in 11 playoff games with Seattle, it didn't take Willson more than a couple of hours on the practice field to realize the current squad wasn't going anywhere.
"I stroll into that practice," Willson said. "And this is the part I never told anyone - that was the worst practice I've ever seen anywhere I've been."
In a rapid reversal, after being welcomed back less than 24 hours earlier, Willson announced his retirement the next day through a statement on his social media accounts. At the time, he referenced his health concerns and a changed perspective as the main reasons for hanging up his cleats.
Thanking the Seahawks organization, fans, and those in his hometown of LaSalle, Ontario for their support throughout his NFL career, Willson wrote that he reached his decision "after reflecting on everything yesterday and being in the building."
Following his candid interview with Wright, that statement from Willson nearly two years ago has taken on a whole new meaning.
According to Willson, it only took one practice for it to become clear to him that this incarnation of the Seahawks lacked the heart of their predecessors. Dismayed by what he saw on the field, given everything he had endured in the offseason, he made the choice to walk away rather than put his body on the line for
a team that he didn't expect to compete for a playoff spot.
Unfortunately for 12s, Willson's intuition proved to be correct. While quarterback Russell Wilson going down with a finger injury in Week 5 and missing three games contributed to Seattle's last place finish in the NFC West, coach Pete Carroll's squad stumbled to a 7-10 finish, suffering double-digit losses for the first
time since 2009.
Luke Willson Shares Every Detail Of The Final Play Of Super Bowl 49
Luke Willson breaks down what happened on the last Seahawks drive against the Patriots in Super Bowl 49.
Luke also shares that the offense practiced a goal line play designed for Marshawn Lynch the week before the Super Bowl. The play would've had Marshawn as the full back in a wedge play from the half yard line.
"At this point in my life, I was not gonna put my body, my mind, and my soul [on the line] for a team that eventually went 7-10, but had the attitude of a 4-12 team," Willson said.
Thankfully, better days laid ahead for the Seahawks, as Carroll and general manager John Schneider quickly went to work overhauling their roster with the aim of returning the franchise to their previous winning ways.
In the aftermath of that dismal campaign, Seattle shipped Wilson to Denver in a blockbuster trade and released All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner in a cap-related maneuver, leading many to believe the franchise was heading into a long, dark rebuild. Instead, with Geno Smith at the controls and an outstanding 2022
draft class, the team wound up winning nine games and earning an unexpected wild card berth.
Having played with the quarterback in 2019 and 2020 when he served as a backup for Wilson, Willson was blown away by what he saw from Smith on the practice field, leaving him to wonder why he was a backup and not starting elsewhere.
"The day Geno Smith showed up in Seattle, I was like 'This cat is different,'" Willson recalled. "His first couple weeks here, I'm like 'What's the matter with him?' There's got to be something the matter with Geno because he's a backup."
But as he continued to get to know Smith on and off the field, it became apparent to Willson that none of the perceived narratives surrounding the quarterback after a failed stint as a starter with the Jets added up. He saw a signal caller with a strong, accurate arm, underrated athleticism, a strong football IQ, and
an excellent presence in the locker room, and considering those tools he had seen on display himself, he was one of the few who expected big things from him.
Calling himself Nostradamus, and for good reason, Willson referenced tweeting that Smith would "ball out" as Seattle's new starter last season. Once again, this time to the delight of fans, he was dead on, as the ex-West Virginia star earned Comeback Player of the Year honors and made his first Pro Bowl after
throwing 30 touchdown passes and leading the NFL with a near-70 percent completion rate.
Only a few years ago, the Seahawks looked to be in a steep decline and Willson sensed that first-hand on the practice field, choosing to exit stage left rather than play for a mediocre team. With a different perspective now from the outside looking in, he senses a far different vibe with Smith under center, a bevy of
weapons around him, and a young, talented foundation on both sides of the ball, which should excite fans for 2023 and beyond.

Marshawn Lynch is starring in a queer ‘American Pie’ style comedy from the makers of ‘Cocaine Bear’
Yes, this is real — and it’s SPECTACULAR.
We learned earlier this year that Marshawn Lynch would be making his Hollywood debut, but even knowing that we weren’t ready for what happened on Tuesday when Lynch dropped the trailer for Bottoms.
The team behind the movie made Pitch Perfect and Cocaine Bear, so you know EXACTLY where this one is falling tonally. The movie itself is a mash-up of some wild source material judging from the trailer and press releases.
At its heart Bottoms is about two queer high school students who start a fight club in order to have sex before graduation. So it’s a little bit like American Pie and Fight Club, but there are also elements of Heathers in this too — and lots of blood, and Marshawn reading a copy of “Divorced & Happy” magazine.
Lynch serves as the teen’s fight club instructor, which is the part he was born to play. Already this is looking like it has potential to be very good, and certainly much better than Brett Favre in There’s Something About Mary.
