Lakers fan gets more than just $75,000 after banking insane half-court shot
A Los Angeles Lakers fan won more than just the $75,000 cash prize after he banked the half-court shot during a break in Monday’s game against the Indiana Pacers.
The fan, identified as Jaime Murry, banked the shot from long distance with ease and got the prize in the process. It wasn’t the best moment for him, though, but rather the fact that he got to celebrate the big win alongside the Lakers.
Murry actually had a moment with Anthony Davis, who was clearly happy for the fan as he hugged and congratulated him. The rest of the Lakers bench also came to celebrate, with Dennis Schroder, Thomas Bryant, Matt Ryan dapping up the fan.
It’s definitely quite the heartwarming moment. And to be fair, the shot is worth celebrating. After all, it has been two years since someone made the half-court shot and took home the big shot jackpot in LA. The last time it happened was back in January 2020.

NBA fans call out Devin Booker after he tells Patrick Beverley to push players 'in the chest'
Pat need to stop pushing people in the back man. Push them in the chest.”Patrick Beverley’s latest altercation will surely lead to some kind of discipline from the NBA.
On Tuesday night, he shoved Deandre Ayton, who was standing over Pat Bev’s teammate Austin Reaves. Beverley knew he’d be ejected,so he went to the locker roomimmediately.
Devin Booker remembers it well. When asked after Tuesday’s game for his thoughts on Beverley shoving Ayton, he had this to say: “Pat needs to stop pushing people in the back, man. Push them in the chest. That’s all I’ve got to say.”
NBA fans responded by pointing to a Booker incident from the 2021 playoffs in which he pushed Dennis Schroder in mid-air, which resulted in a flagrant 2, a dangerous play:

the Warriors’ half-court offense (85.1 offensive rating) struggled mightily, even more so without their best player. With Curry on the floor, possessions like this were common:
Warriors run one of their half-court staples – “HORNS Flex”. “HORNS” simply refers to the formation: two bigs at the elbows, two shooters on each corner. Curry feeds Looney then cuts inside to set the “flex” screen for Jordan Poole.
Curry scored 27 of his 38 points in the first half for the defending champions but departed with 2:04 remaining in the third quarter. The Warriors, who lost at Milwaukee on Tuesday night, fell to 2-12 on the road.
“He's going to get an MRI tomorrow,” coach Steve Kerr said of Curry. “The trainers told me he was out midway through the fourth quarter. I only spoke to him briefly after the game, so I haven't had a chance to talk with him yet.”

Curry got hurt during the third quarterwhile trying to defend against Jalen Smith, who ran into the Warriors star's arm. Curry immediately grabbed his shoulder while hunched over and went to the locker room during the timeout. The eight-time All-Star and two-time MVP did not speak to reporters.
Even with the Warriors' biggest scoring threat sidelined, the Pacers struggled to put the game away.
For much of this game, Curry was the only thing keeping the Warriors afloat.
He had 15 points in the first quarter — more than he had in the entire game when the Dubs played the Pacers last week. He had 27 points at halftime — as many as all of his teammates combined.
He looked destined for a 50-point triple-double while putting the team on his shoulders and leading them to a win when no one else looked up for the challenge.
And then he became the story for an entirely different reason.

Bennedict Mathurinadded 24 points for Indiana, which snapped a two-game skid by sweeping the Warriors for the first time since 2017-18 and just the second time in a decade. Indiana looked like it would cruise after rallying from an early 20-11 deficit and using nine 3-pointers to spur a 47-point second-quarter barrage. The Pacers led 74-54 at halftime.
It started with a 14-0 run and Curry's three-point play with 4:16 left in the third made it 83-80. The Pacers answered with 10 straight points, but the Warriors refused to let them pull away and cut the deficit to 122-119 whenDonte DiVincenzomade a 3 with 1:25 to go. Three possessions that illustrate the Warriors’ natural disadvantages against the Milwaukee Bucks
The Warriors were crushed by a much better team.
WARRIORS at BUCKS | NBA FULL GAME HIGHLIGHTS | December 13, 2022
The Milwaukee Bucks are the best defensive unit in the NBA for plenty of reasons.
They have the perfect combination of personnel to make it tough for all sorts of opponents. Defense starts at the point of attack, and the Bucks have plenty of point-of-attack hounds that can put an enormous amount of ball pressure to bother ball handlers, navigate screens to stay attached around picks, and the
ability to lock and trail to close airspace quickly.
Having the kind of on-ball personnel they have — Jrue Holiday, arguably the premier point-of-attack defender in the NBA, and others such as Jevon Carter, George Hill, and Wes Matthews — has empowered the Bucks to deploy the deep drop as their base pick-and-roll coverage. Drop works only when you have the
perfect combination of good on-ball defense and a drop big who knows how to navigate the middle ground between a ball handler and the roll man.
The Bucks happen to have the best drop-back big in Brook Lopez — the early favorite for Defensive Player of the Year. Lopez leads the league in blocks per game (2.9). Only Myles Turner (8.5) defends more shots at the rim than Lopez (7.7.), but Lopez has a commanding edge in opponent rim percentage (51.8%)
over Turner (58.1%).

VIDEO: Draymond Green has fan ejected as Dubs get hammered by Bucks
Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green got a Milwaukee Bucks fan ejected on Tuesday following what seemed to be a heated exchange between him and the said fan.
Green was seen on camera talking to the referees about the said fan before officials contacted security to get the man out of his seat and the arena.
Draymond Green requests Bucks fan to be removed
Draymond explains why he had fan ejected
Draymond Green says he almost got into it with a fan but managed to keep his composure.
FAN EJECTED
A fan was ejected following a complaint by Warriors starDraymond Green, and the Bucks said they are investigating the incident and consulting with the NBA. Security personnel removed the man, who was sitting a few rows beyond the baseline, during a stop in play with 5:19 left in the third quarter.
The fan said “some threatening stuff to my life,” Green said.
“I was this close to really going back and diving all the way in, but just went back and told the official. And when I told the official, he said, he’s got to get out of here.
Jordan Poole sinks an acrobatic shot for the Warriors
Add to the equation arguably one of the best help defenders in NBA history — if not the best (Draymond Green certainly has something to say about that) in Giannis Antetokounmpo — and the Golden State Warriors certainly had a mountain to climb going into their marquee matchup in Milwaukee.
A mountain that proved too high and insurmountable for them to overcome.
To illustrate how much trouble the Warriors had in terms of trying to get efficient looks at the rim — they shot 12-of-22 at the rim, good for 54.5% and slotting them within the 11th percentile — here’s a possession during the early stages of the third quarter that perfectly captures their struggles:
Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports
First thing that must be pointed out was the incredible amount of ball pressure Carter applied on Steph Curry. Without Holiday, the Bucks defended Curry by committee — Matthews spent time defending Curry, with Carter exchanging duties. Both of them did a commendable job.
But the rest of the possession is the meat and potatoes of what makes the Bucks so tough to score against. The Warriors flow into handoff action between Green and Klay Thompson, with Antetokounmpo going up to the level of the screen against Thompson, who counters with a pocket pass to Green.
This is where Lopez’s ingenuity as a rim protector comes into play.
Lopez plays both the potential dump-off to Kevon Looney, while also keeping tabs on Green. He waits to make sure Green commits to the layup before going up and blocking the shot. Such sublime decision-making, real-time processing, and uncanny timing is what has made Lopez into the league’s premier rim protector.
Take note also of Carter and Grayson Allen staying home on Curry and Jordan Poole, respectively. This further limits Green’s options on the short roll, leaving him no choice but to go up for the layup himself. This is illustrative of the Bucks and their efforts to limit opponents’ looks from outside as much as possible —
they allow the fifth-lowest opponent three-point rate in the league, a far cry from their previous four seasons where they ranked no higher than 26th.
Combined with the Bucks allowing the fourth-lowest opponent rim rate in the league, their defensive shot profile has been among the best in the league. Their defensive location eFG% — a measure of how well a team limits opponents from getting the most efficient looks (i.e., layups and threes) on the floor — of
53.4% is fourth best, per Cleaning the Glass.
They allow the third-highest amount of mid-range looks from opponents, which states their preference for giving up the mid-range in an effort to limit rim attempts and three-point shots. Nothing was perhaps more illustrative of this philosophy than on this possession against the Warriors:
Again, Carter’s ball pressure on Curry must be commended. Looney “zipper” cuts and receives the ball up top in a 5-out “Delay” configuration (a big handling the ball up top to initiate action). Looney flows into “Chicago” action (a pindown flowing into a DHO), with Poole receiving the handoff.
Having Green in the corner seems counterintuitive — he’s not a threat as a shooter — but with Curry on the wing next to him, this is a tell that Green is about to initiate “blind pig” handoff action with Curry running to the corner and hopefully getting an open look because of Green’s defender sagging off.
However, Green’s defender happens to Antetokounmpo, who quickly diagnoses the action and uses his length and long stride to close the space quickly. Curry is discouraged from shooting and is forced to kick out to Thompson on the weak side. Khris Middleton’s hard close-out runs him off the line, and Thompson is
forced into a tough floater against Lopez that misses — a shot the Bucks more than preferred even if the floater did go in.
The Bucks’ combination of size, length, and physicality gave the Warriors plenty of trouble on defense, but it also played a part during certain half-court offensive possessions from the Bucks. They’re far from the best half-court offense in the league (94.7 half-court offensive rating, 19th). It showed as much against
the Warriors, where they won not because of their half-court offense (92.3 offensive rating, 42nd percentile), but because of their dominance in transition (180.0 offensive rating, 95th percentile).
Even while limited in the half court, the Bucks’ natural advantages — coupled with a bit of positional ingenuity — gave the Warriors trouble in half-court defense:
A quick “ghost” screen forces a switch, placing Anthony Lamb onto Antetokounmpo, who deems Lamb worthy enough of being a victim of an isolation post-up. Focus on what happens on the weak side when Antetokounmpo begins backing down:
The Bucks are fond of picking on opponents’ size, or lack thereof. The Warriors are glaringly smaller across the board. Hiding small personnel on the weak side when defending has its advantages — but it is also prone to having undersized help coming over to defend penetration or post-ups, which is what happens
above when the Bucks park Allen in the dunker spot to render the help (Donte DiVincenzo) ineffective due to lack of size.
Rarely do the Warriors get beat by size. Through playing small, the Warriors built a dynasty predicated on running traditional bigs off the floor and forcing them to play their own game of fast-paced small ball. However, the Bucks are anything but traditional.
Lopez is a force at the rim. Antetokounmpo’s versatility and freakish physicality can give anyone trouble, but more so against an undersized unit. Bobby Portis is one of the league’s premier role players and bench stalwarts.
Meanwhile, the Warriors are too small, too disadvantaged athletically, and lack the requisite depth to match the Bucks toe-to-toe. Things may be different during their second regular season matchup, but as things stand, the Bucks are simply the much better team as presently constructed.

In one corner were the Warriors, a team that finished just behind the Celtics in terms of points allowed per 100 possessions. Their defensive rating of 107.6 was 4.7 points better than league average last season, with a half-court defensive rating of 91.2 that was third in the league and was 4.4 points better than
league average, per Cleaning the Glass (which eliminates end-of-quarter heaves and garbage time).

Stephen Curry & Klay Thompson Combine for 66 Points vs. Celtics
The Warriors’ brand of defensive versatility allowed them to play multiple schemes and pick-and-roll coverages. If the situation warranted it, they would play drop to minimize help and keep ball-screen possessions a two-on-two endeavor. They certainly had the personnel and lineup configurations to switch almost
every screen, on or off the ball. They had the wherewithal to rotate behind aggressive coverages such as screen-level meetups or traps. To throw off opponents, they would even employ funky zone configurations and “junk” defensive alignments such as a box-and-one or a triangle-and-two.
To summarize, they had every ounce of what made a team a championship-caliber defense.
In the other corner, the Celtics were the best defensive unit in the league last season, leading the league in terms of points allowed per 100 possessions. They limited opponents to the tune of a 106.9 defensive rating, 5.4 points better than league average. Their 90.4 half-court defensive rating also led the league and
was 5.2 points better than league average.
They had the distinction of being the switchiest team in the league, buoyed by a roster that had the capacity to switch almost every on or off-ball screening action. Per Second Spectrum, the Celtics switched the most off-ball actions last season (15.2 per 100 possessions). They were second behind the Miami Heat in
terms of the rate of ball screens they switched (28.6 per 100 possessions).
No place like home
Jayson Tatum & Draymond Green catching up after the game
In theory, they were built to stifle a Warriors offense that was predicated on a multitude of off-ball movement and screening actions. We’ve seen the formula before from teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Houston Rockets — switch everything, keep things flattened, and force the Warriors to rely on late-clock
shot making.
Jordan Poole, Warriors, Celtics
Of course, the Warriors short-circuited such plans on their way to titles. With the Celtics, the method with which they used to bypass the Celtics’ switching tendencies was simple: run continuous ball screens for Steph Curry and punish a defense that wasn’t keen on being put in rotation.
This season, the Warriors defense (112.4 overall defensive rating, 13th; 96.7 half-court defense, 18th) has experienced a precipitous fall-off. A bunch of factors have contributed to this: post-championship malaise, fatigue, and personnel downgrades, to name a few. The trademark defensive versatility that powered
them to a title has been sporadic — sometimes outright absent.
Grant Williams Thrown Out of the Game for Punching the Ball
The Celtics, on the other hand, are on track to become the most efficient offense in NBA history (121.0 offensive rating, 7.9 points better than league average). Their excellence in the half court (107.8 offensive rating, 11.6 points better than league average) has been the main driver of their early season success.
Much like the Warriors, however, their defense has largely struggled to return to its elite status. They’re seventh in overall (non-garbage-time) defensive rating (111.5) — good, but far from transcendent. They’re just below the Warriors in half-court defense (96.9 defensive rating, 19th). The absence of their main
defensive anchor in Robert Williams III has certainly played a huge part, while the recent loss of Al Horford — a coverage-versatile big — hasn’t helped them in any regard.
Klay Thompson Drops 34 POINTS Full Highlights vs Celtics🔥
This first regular season matchup was intriguing in the sense of how much carryover there was going to be from the Finals, especially in terms of defensive coverages. How will the Warriors — without their best wing defender in Andrew Wiggins and having lost key defensive personnel over the offseason — cover
Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown? How will they account for the Celtics’ three-happy tendencies, one that has been the main driver of their league-best offense?
On the Celtics’ end, will they do anything different against Curry ball-screen possessions? Will they continue to switch actions endlessly, as was their brand last season? How will they account for the absence of two of their most important defensive personnel?
The answer to the question of ball-screen coverage came faster than expected — and to a certain degree, it was quite shocking in the sense that they elected to do nothing different:
Off the split action in which Jordan Poole curls around the Kevon Looney flare screen, Poole makes use of Looney’s screen anew. Blake Griffin — a somewhat scheme-limited center — is in deep drop. Jaylen Brown is no slouch when it comes to screen navigation, but Looney catches just enough of him to free Poole for a pull-up bomb.
Drop coverage does have its uses: as aforementioned, it prevents a defense from having to be put in rotation, spending less energy defending swing-swing ball movement. It also results in a favorable shot profile if done correctly — fewer shots at the rim (the Celtics are second in opponent rim rate), more mid-
rangers forced (they allow the highest mid-range rate) and fewer three-point looks allowed (fourth in opponent three-point rate).
It was somewhat crucial for the Warriors to establish some sort of mid-range game to beat the Celtics’ drop coverage. Klay Thompson — who finished with 34 points on 26 shots (63.2 TS%) — took it upon himself to be the Warriors’ resident mid-range merchant.
Although it’s not ideal nor sustainable for Thompson to take mid-range pull-ups off of several dribbles, he was able to make it work against the Celtics’ drop — and accordingly punished it:
These are the kinds of shots the Celtics will happily take on the chin, but just like with every coverage, it comes with risks. If teams are able to establish a mid-range rhythm, the gamble turns into a risky endeavor. Drop may not put your team in rotation, but there are still exploitable gaps.
Thompson manages to touch the paint against a drop that has more or less contained him — but Brown falls ever so slightly behind, which puts all the pressure on Griffin to navigate the middle ground. Brown tries to peel off toward Looney but is too late to stop the pocket pass and too small to affect Looney on the finish.
Even Poole had success in the mid-range against drop — which may have come from reading the scouting report on the Celtics’ defensive shot profile, which states that they allow the second-highest shots from floater range (interestingly, just behind the Warriors):
Even while having extensive footage on what happens to defenses when they play drop coverage on the greatest shooter of all time — some of which most likely include their own experiences during the NBA Finals — the Celtics were still adamant about putting all the pressure on the on-ball defender and electing to drop their big.
While the Celtics may possess arguably the best corps of screen-navigating point-of-attack defenders in the league, it still doesn’t justify this kind of possession:
While the Celtics had flashes of shutting down the Warriors’ off-ball movement and screening through their switching, the Warriors had more success than expected at getting their motion offense going. Possessions rarely died on a whimper, with the ball continuously popping, personnel moving around like a perpetual
motion machine, and hubs relentlessly hunting for cutters and shooters curling around screens and handoffs.
On the other hand, the Celtics offense had massive trouble creating advantages. Some of their troubles came through unfavorable variance — open shots they’d normally make didn’t fall in — but it can’t account for how crisp the Warriors were in terms of rotations, while also taking into account conditional switching
— i.e., switching when it was acceptable, and fighting over screens whenever switching wasn’t the answer.
The Celtics are fond of using off-ball wide pindowns for Tatum like the one above to force defenses to make tough choices: do you switch a smaller defender onto him, or do you fight over the screen in an effort to stay home?
The Warriors chose the latter option — and were brilliant in its execution. Curry “tags” Tatum on some sort off-ball hedge in order to give Thompson ample time to recover, after which Curry himself recovers back toward Marcus Smart. With no advantage created, Tatum tries to isolate against Thompson, but is forced into a turnover.
Credit: Fadeaway World
The Warriors were able to run the necessary shooters off the line, gave the Celtics a bit of their own switching medicine, navigated and fought over screens with verve, were sharp in their rotations and “X-outs”, and let the personnel who they were fine with shooting the ball chuck from outside.
Tatum struggled mightily. He managed only 18 points on an inefficient 6-of-21 from the field. Again, some of the shots he took were shots he’d normally make — but others were misses against stifling defense, especially whenever he tried to force things inside.
Remember when I mentioned at the top of this article that the Celtics were second in the league (28.1%) in terms of opponent rim rate? The team above them: the Warriors, who allow only 24.8% of their opponents’ shots to be taken within four feet of the rim — 10 percentage points better than league average, per Cleaning the Glass.
In this battle of defensive schemes and coverages, the Warriors notched an important victory. Regaining their identity of defensive versatility — against the team with the best record in the NBA, no less — is an important stepping-stone at this juncture of the regular season.
They were able to limit the best offense in the NBA to a offensive rating of 104.9 and a half-court offensive rating of 93.3 — no doubt the best defensive performance of the season.
This is the kind of defense that won these Warriors their fourth NBA title in eight years. Consistency will be key as well as proper usage of personnel and correct mixing and matching of lineup combinations. More importantly, this win will go a long way toward team morale.
If anything, this win proved that the Warriors still have the juice to contend for another championship. But to do so, they will have to continuously cross their t’s and dot their i’s, as they did against the Celtics.

The Golden State Warriors face the Boston Celtics in a highly anticipated showdown on Saturday. However, they are making sure fans won’t forget that the day is not just about the two teams but about Bill Russell as well.
Golden State has already revealed its plan tohonor the legendary Russellduring the game by raising his jersey number to the rafters. It’s a special moment since Russell is a son of Oakland and made a massive impact in the Bay Area. Not to mention that his team where he spent his 13-year NBA career, the Celtics,
will be there to witness the moment.
Prior to that, however, the Warriors shared an emotional tribute video to remember and acknowledge Russell’s enormous contributions to the NBA, the Celtics and Oakland. Steve Kerr, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson were among the key Dubs members to speak in the tribute, with Kerr sharing how “the game of
basketball would not be what it is today” without Russell.
Curry added, “Bill Russell is the ultimate pioneer in terms of battling through a very difficult time in our country, not only balancing his basketball career, but [also] his place as a human being and society.”
It is certainly a beautiful gesture from the Warriors for Bill Russell, highlighting the legacy he left in the NBA and in society in general. While many NBA fans know him as an 11-time champion, there is certainly more to the legendary big man.
Russell passed away last August at the age of 88. But while he’s gone, his legacy continues to live.
The Golden State Warriors welcomed the Celtics to the Bay, they also decided to hang Russell's no. 6 in the rafters to honor him.

Ja Morant’s 4-word reaction to ‘crazy’ Mavs game vs. Warriors
On Twitter, Morant shared how much he loved the “crazy” battle. During the game, he was hyped with the intense trading of buckets, so much so that he described it as “high level NBA basketball.”
To be fair to Ja Morant, it was indeed a wild game that wasn’t decided until the buzzer. Even making it better, Luka Doncic outshined Stephen Curry andpulled off another historic gamewith his 41-point triple-double (12 rebounds and 12 assists).
Morant has been one of the most electrifying players in the NBA today, so it speaks volumes when he has high praises for a game like that.
The Mavs won’t be meeting Morant’s Grizzlies again until March, but hopes are high they’ll also play some high-level basketball when they face off against each other again.

One surprising Warrior has helped spark Warriors turnaround
“I’ve said for years Draymond is kind of the heartbeat of our team,” coach Steve Kerr said.
Klay Thompsonwent 5 for 8 from deep for 21 points and tied Joe Johnson (1,978) for 15th place on the NBA's career list for 3-pointers, helping the Warriors raise their perplexing road record to 2-9.

Andrew Wigginsadded 17 points against his old team, and the Warriors went 20 for 47 from 3-point range to move above the .500 mark for the first time in a month.
“We’ve been in a good groove lately," Wiggins said. "We’re playing together.”
The Warriors went 2 for 12 from 3-point range in the second quarter and still led by 20 points at the half, fueled by a faster tempo their offense has been at in recent weeks.
“Steve just told us to play for each other and to simplify things and when we do that,” Thompson said, “we’re the best in the world.”
Anthony Edwardsscored 26 points for the Wolves. They were outrebounded 47-31 and allowed their highest opponent score of the season.
“Our identity right now is super inconsistent, very Jekyll and Hyde,” coach Chris Finch said. "We’re not as physical or tough as I’d like us to be.”
The Wolves finally came to life early in the fourth quarter with a 19-4 run that brought them within 10 points for their closest margin since midway through the first quarter. Curry, who had missed his first three shots after re-entering at the 8:25 mark, coolly swished a 3 from the wing out of a Warriors timeout to
stem the tide and push the lead to 121-108.

at Charlotte on Saturday.
“Teams like Golden State, you can just see it in the way that they operate,” Towns said. “It's a well-oiled machine. Everything they do has such cohesiveness to it, and that’s because of the time they have spent with each other.”
Nah this is disrespectful why is Dray laughing at Rudy Gobert
PUSHING THE PACE
The Wolves played without Jaden McDaniels, their best perimeter defender who was sidelined by an illness, against a Warriors team that leads the league with 13 games of 30-plus assists and has long been the league king of the 3.
Wiggins started with a soaring left-handed slam off a lob from Green just 12 seconds into the game. The Warriors made 17 of their first 21 shots for a 40-17 lead, built by a 28-4 run over a 4:27 stretch that Nowell finally halted a 3. The 47-27 deficit after one quarter was the largest for the Wolves this season.
“Guys are in shape now and running deep to the corners, and it’s really opening the floor up,” Green said. “And then most importantly our defense has picked up.”

Steve Kerr has explained why he benched Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green in ugly 45-point loss to the Pelicans.
Warriors Will Not Trade Their Young Players Until Stephen Curry Tells Them To
An NBA executive says that the Golden State Warriors won't trade away their youngsters until Stephen Curry tells them to.
Story by Ishaan Bhattacharya
Steve Kerr sat Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green one day after the Warriors ended their winless road game streak against the bottom-feeding Houston Rockets. The Warriors faced the New Orleans Pelicans on the second night of a back-to-back tonight and lost by 45 points as the star trio sat.
Steve Kerr has explained why he benched the older stars of the team on the second night of a back-to-back for the second time this season given the struggles the Warriors are going through right now.
“The schedule has not been kind to us or the city of New Orleans in terms of us having back-to-backs in the midst of really brutal scheduling, and us having guys who are banged up and older, played a decade or more of playoff basketball. But we feel it’s imperative and our performance team feels it’s
imperative to get ahead of the (injuries) that these guys have.
"We just can’t risk that. And I do feel terrible for fans here. But as I said, unfortunately, that’s the way the schedule laid out and it’s too bad.” (h/t SF Chronicle)
You can't win the title if you're not in the playoffs and Kerr is confident the Warriors can sacrifice one game in November to ensure health for their stars throughout the season to ensure the Warriors are a top-six seed in the West, something people still expect them to become as the season wears on.
How Much Longer Until The Warriors Rebound?
The Warriors are among 10 out of the 30 teams in the NBA to already be at double-digit losses for the season, something NBA analysts did not predict to be in the cards for the Warriors when the season started.
The young stars of the Warriors were center stage tonight and couldn't live up to the challenges on-court against a strong Pelicans team. Hopefully, they can find some rhythm sooner than later, or the Warriors might have to start looking at the trade market to get some veterans to help stabilize the ship.

“It seemed like every time Klay just made an extra pass, the ball started to move and then we got a wide open shot,” Kerr said. “We ended up with 32 assists. It started with early on Klay taking a more patient approach. And then the game rewarded him.”

“I’m actually much more interested in why we’re not playing well on the road than why were are playing well at home,” Kerr said. “I expect to play well at home. We’ve got a good record here over the years and good players, great fans. No reason we shouldn’t control our home court. But we got to start putting it
together on the road, too.”
Golden State snapped a three-game home skid to the Knicks and has won its last eight in New York.
“To me, the road record is directly connected to the defense,” Kerr said.

Steph Curry's Career Best Behind the Back Moves
Stephen Curry, playmaking magician
The reigning Finals was a monster in Golden State’s loss to Phoenix, racking up 50 points on 28 shots to give his otherwise lifeless team a puncher’s chance to earn its first road win of the season.
Curry took a much different approach from the friendly confines of Chase Center, going out of his way to help his teammates find rhythm offensively. The result was five assists in the game’s opening three minutes, two of which went for layups and the other pair Thompson triples.
Curry’s effort to move the ball clearly rubbed off on the Warriors at large, too. They assisted on 14 of their first 15 baskets, pushing the ball to create easy looks in transition and consistently passing up good shots for great ones.
Impressive as Golden State’s ball and man movement was all night long, though, Curry’s singular impact still loomed largest to his team’s success offensively—and it wasn’t always with the pass.
Here’s the play Dub Nation will remember most from Friday’s game. It’ll be played on Curry’s personal highlight reel for years and years to come.
Klay Thompson promises they will. Still, after his encouraging performance in the Golden State Warriors’ 111-101 win over the New York Knicks on Friday, there’s reason to believe Thompson’s early-season struggles will soon subside for good.
Thompson scored 20 points in his team’s wire-to-wire victory, going 8-of-16 from the field to hit at least 50% his shots for the first time in 2022-23.

PHOENIX -- —Devin Bookerstepped back for a 3-pointer in the closing minute of the third quarter as Golden State'sStephen Currygamely tried to stay with him, putting a hand in his face. Booker made the shot anyway as a frustrated Curry dropped his head.
No matter how many points the Warriors superstar scored, the Suns came right back with an answer.

Cameron Paynehad a career-high 29 points, Booker added 27 and Phoenix easily overcame Curry’s 50-point night to beat struggling Golden State 130-119 on Wednesday. All five Suns starters scored in double figures.
“It's important to have a team,” Booker said about the balanced production. “That gives you longevity and will get us through a season.”

The Suns controlled most of the game despite Curry's scoring. The eight-time All-Star made 17 of 28 shots, going 7 of 11 from 3-point range.
The problem for the Warriors was nobody else was helping.Klay Thompsonfinished with 19 points but shot just 6 of 17. The Warriors — defending NBA champs — fell to 6-9 for the season, including 0-8 on the road.
Curry didn't have much to say about his 50 points, instead focusing on the team's struggles.
“Losing becomes a habit if you don’t fix it,” Curry said. “We avoided that for a very long time. We are very aware of who we are and our potential. The losing does get old really quick.”
Said Warriors coach Steve Kerr: “I think for right now, we are just scattered. It's a pickup game. It's a pickup game out there.”
Curry's scoring prowess is expected, but it was countered by one of the best games of Payne's career. Starting in place of the injuredChris Paul, the 6-foot-3 guard made 9 of 17 shots, including 6 of 10 from beyond the arc.

Curry was at his best in the first half, making 10 of 13 shots from the field, including 4 of 5 3-pointers. The two-time MVP came into the game averaging about 31 points per game and hit that mark with a free throw near the end of the second quarter.

NEW ORLEANS -- — Golden State coach Steve Kerr foreshadowed a plan to adjust playing time across his roster in the coming week.
Something needs to change if the Warriors intend to defend their NBA title.
Stephen Curry, Warriors enter Hall of Infamy with bleak record never seen from reigning champs
Many fans were concerned after the Golden State Warriors dropped a close contest to the Orlando Magic, 130-129, despite Stephen Curry’s 39-point explosion. Their loss at Amway Center was their fourth straight, dropping them to 3-6 to begin the year as they remain winless amidst a rough trip on the road.
The Warriors’ Friday night clash against the New Orleans Pelicans, an exciting young team led by Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram, was supposed to give them an opportunity to stop the bleeding.
“Excited about getting home,” Kerr said after a winless, five-game road trip concluded. “Next week will be a great opportunity for us to get a lot of work in.
“We’re going to change up the rotations a little bit,” Kerr continued, adding that he's identified players “who maybe haven’t gotten a ton of minutes who are going to get a chance to play.”
More Jonathan Kuminga? Steve Kerr drops major hint as lineup changes loom
The Golden State Warriors were outlasted by the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night, losing 114-105 after the home team pulled away late. Don’t mistake context behind the Warriors’ latest defeat for that of any other on their winless disaster of a five-game road trip, though.
The Pelicans, meanwhile, benefited from Ingram's return from a four-game absence because of a concussion. He scored 26 points on an array of drives and perimeter shots.
“Good to have him back, honestly. We needed his production tonight,” Pelicans coach Willie Green said. “He picked up some slack for us.”
CJ McCollum drains 3 vs. Golden State Warriors
CJ McCollum scored 20 points for New Orleans. So did reserve Larry Nance Jr., including several fourth-quarter dunks that kept Golden State at bay. Zion Williamson added 16 for New Orleans, highlighting his performance with a breakaway, windmill dunk set up by Jose Alvarado's steal.
“Our execution offensively has been great,” Nance said. "Having B.I. out there helps. ... He’s just so poised all the time.”
Jordan Poolehad 20 points and nine assists for the Warriors.Kevon Looneywas the only regular starter in uniform for Golden State's second game in two nights at the end of a winless five-game trip.
Kevon Looney gets the hoop and the harm
The Warriors are 3-7 overall. Among Western Conference teams, only Houston (1-8) has more losses.
Curry, Thompson, Green and Wiggins all were scratched after playing the previous night in a loss at Orlando.
Larry Nance Jr. elevates for flush vs. Golden State Warriors
The Warriors are not playing Thompson on back-to-back nights because of his anterior cruciate ligament and Achilles tendon injuries in 2019 and 2020. Green is under similar limitations because of a back injury last season. Curry was being rested because of elbow soreness and Wiggins because of a sore left foot.
A starting lineup that instead included Poole and fellow guardMoses Moody, along with forwardsAnthony Lamband Jonathan Kuminga, made the game competitive into the fourth quarter.
“Couldn’t get it done, but very happy with the effort,” Kerr said. “There’s a lot of good stuff to take from it.”

Ty Jerome, who scored 18 points, hit a 3 to pull the Warriors within 99-96 before the Pelicans steadily pulled away during the final six minutes.
Trey Murphy III's 3-pointer capped a 7-0 Pelicans spurt that began with Nance's dunk and layup and made it 111-101 with two minutes to go. Ingram, who also had five rebounds, five assists and two blocks, received a standing ovation when he checked out of the game in the final minute.
“It was a little weird being around so many people after 12 days, but I feel good," said Ingram, who recalled having sensitivity to light and constant headaches while he was out.
“I feel like I needed to make something happen,” Ingram added. “I was happy to see some go in and kind of get a rhythm and make some good passes for my teammates.”

Warriors coach Steve Kerr said he appreciates that fans paid “good money” to see players on his team who sat out with the goal of preserving their long-term health.
“Ultimately the players' health is the No. 1 factor in our team's success and even our fans' satisfaction in the long run,” Kerr said.
He added that while some absences are unpredictable, "it would be wise” for fans to study schedules of teams they want to see and manage expectations when those teams are playing on consecutive nights at the end of a trip, as the Warriors were.
“Especially when you get a team with players who have past injuries like we do, or guys who are advanced age-wise,” Kerr said. “I apologize to any fans out there who were hoping to see those guys."

Suggs' clutch 3-pointer and steal fuels Orlando late
TheGolden State Warriorslost their fourth straight game last night as the Orlando Magicbeat them, 130-129. It was a big letdown as Golden State let another winnable game slip through their grasp — this time to an Orlando team that held the worst record in the Eastern Conference.
Excessive fouling, bad defense, and another squandered lead from the team’s second unit were the main factors in this one. In what has become the norm during this road trip, the Warriors starting unit played well enough to build up a lead only to see it gradually fall apart as the reserves were sprinkled into the
game. The results prompted head coach Steve Kerr to say that he will “make some changes” to the rotation.

‘Terrible call’: Chris Paul doubles down with Stephen Curry on ref callouts
Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul wasn’t dubbed the Point God for nothing. Over the past two games, Paul has posted an insane assist to turnover ratio of 27-to-1. However, he still felt hard done by the call that gave him his first turnover in 95 minutes worth of game time.
Butler scored 23 points, including a go-ahead three-point play with 1:48 left. Bam Adebayoscored 19, Duncan Robinsonhad 17 and Kyle Lowry13 for Miami, which won on Spoelstra's 52nd birthday.
Curry had 23 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists for the Warriors (3-5), who dropped their third straight and are 0-4 on the road.Andrew Wigginsadded 21 points andKlay Thompsonscored 19.

Nice basket from Bam Adebayo vs. the Warriors
Curry had his 10th regular season triple-double. But a call that went Miami's way denied him a chance to tie the game with 1:39 left.
Curry was hit on the hand by Butler as he tried a 3-pointer, with the Warriors down three. A foul was called, and Butler argued. That convinced Spoelstra to challenge the call.
“Just kind of went on a leap of faith," Spoelstra said.

It worked. The referees determined Butler hit Curry on the hand after the ball was gone; Butler said he also hit the ball first.

‘I was shocked’: Steve Kerr reacts to NBA crackdown that hurt Jordan Poole in loss to Heat
At least the Golden State Warriors’ biggest early-season problems weren’t the driving force behind their latest loss away from the friendly confines of Chase Center, right? The defending champs fell to the Miami Heat 116-109 at FTX Arena on Tuesday, crumbling in crunch-time of a competitive, back-and-forth affair
between two struggling teams that desperately needed a win.

WATCH: Warriors star Jordan Poole hilariously trolls ref mid-game after controversial call
The Golden State Warriors suffered their third straight loss on Tuesday after falling to the Miami Heat, 116-109. Jordan Poole had a miserable game in this one, which also involved three controversial travelling calls on the 6-foot-4 guard.
Early in the fourth quarter, Poole got whistled for his third palming violation, and it was clear that the Warriors stud did not appreciate the call from the game official. As he was jogging back to the opposite end of the floor, Poole could not help but hilariously mock the referee
I’m not sure if the official saw Poole’s antics here because if they did then it’s possible that Poole would have been whistled for a technical foul.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr also spoke about the rather contentious calls, saying that he was shocked by the fact that the officials seemed to have clamped down on Poole’s violations.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr said the NBA sent out an email Tuesday about that infraction. He didn't read it.
“The whole league does that," Kerr said. “They’ve been doing it ever sinceAllen Iversonconvinced the referees that it wasn’t a carry. It is a carry. What Jordan does is a carry. But the whole league’s been doing it. I guess I have to start checking my email on game days.”

The Golden State Warriors are on a tailspin, having just lost their third game in a row in a 116-109 defeat at the hands of Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat Tuesday night in South Beach. But if there’s anything noteworthy for the Warriors about that game, it would be the fact that Jordan Poole has just become the

So they had no chance against the defending NBA championGolden State Warriors, right?
Well, think again.
This slam from Kelly Oubre Jr. was too nice
P.J. Washingtonerupted for 31 points,Gordon Haywardadded 23 and the Hornets once again spoiled Stephen Curry’s annual homecoming game with a 120-113 overtime win over the Warriors on Saturday night.
Kelly Oubre Jradded 18 points as the Hornets beat the Warriors for the fourth straight year at the Spectrum Center, just a few miles from where Curry grew up.
“They obviously understand who is coming into the building so they don't want to give us anything easy,” Curry said. “We knew they were going to come out aggressive and with a sense of pride and they did that.”
Curry scored 31 points and had 11 rebounds to pace the Warriors, but missed a tightly contested 3-pointer at the end of regulation that would have won the game. He also air-balled a 3 in overtime and finished 3 of 13 from beyond the arc.
Jordan Poole had 24 points off the bench for Golden State.
Jalen McDaniels drills trey in OT for the Hornets
In the extra period, Jalen McDanielsknocked down a momentum-turning 3-pointer from the left wing andDennis Smith Jr. scored on a drive to the hole to give the Hornets the lead for good at 116-111.
Curry made two free throws but Washington scored again inside, muscling a shot up and in to push the lead back to five. Washington had six points in the overtime period.
“It goes to show we have a lot of character,” Hornets coach Steve Clifford said. “We played poorly last night. ... but you could just tell in shootaround. I didn’t know we were going to win, but I knew we were going to play well. Just the way they walked into the building and the way they were talking to each other.”
Smith finished with 13 points, nine rebounds and eight assists for Charlotte. He also was all over Curry on the final possession of regulation, not allowing him to get to the basket or get a decent look at a 3-pointer.

Curry lamented his decision to settle for a 3 instead of driving to the hole and looking to create.

Steph makes a sweet assist for the Warriors
Warriors forwardDraymond Greensaid it was frustrating to surrender a four-point lead in the final minute regulation after Washington hit a turnaround jumper and Smith scored on a driving layup to tie the game.
"We never lose those games." Green said. “I can probably recall on one hand over the last eight years that we lost a game up four with a minute to go. So that is deflating form that standpoint. We can't lose that game. That's also a team without their two starting guards."
The Warriors have not beaten the Hornets in Charlotte since Feb. 25, 2019.

SAN FRANCISCO -- — TheGolden State Warriorsare playing dominant basketball for stretches, then struggling to defend during others.
Stephen Curryscored 28 of his 33 points during an 89-point first half, and the defending champions beat former top assistant Mike Brown and hisSacramento Kings130-125 on Sunday night.
Curry, who recorded his third straight 30-point performance to start the season, scored 21 points in the second quarter with five 3-pointers and shot 11 for 22 overall, including 7 of 12 on 3s. The reigning NBA Finals MVP helped Golden State to its third-most points in any half in franchise history and second-most in a
first half. The Warriors' 50 points in the second quarter were a franchise record and matched the third-most points in any period.
“It was fun, 89 points in the first half, that's crazy,”Jordan Poolesaid.
Jordan Poole shows off vision with nice dime vs. Sacramento Kings
Curry has three straight 30-point games to start a season for the second time in his career, also done in 2018-19.
Sacramento cut a 26-point deficit down to four on Chimezie Metu’s dunk with 1:04 left before Golden State held on.
“We played at times brilliantly and we couldn’t sustain it,” coach Steve Kerr said. “It was closer than it should have been, but I give Sacramento a lot of credit. Mike's doing a great job with those guys. They're fighting, they're competing. They've had three close losses now to start the year. ... We let our guard down
and they took advantage of it.”

De’Aaron Fox scored 26 after two 30-point games andDomantas Saboniscontributed 19 points and 14 rebounds, but didn't play in the fourth for winless Sacramento (0-3) in the second night of a back-to-back. The Kings, who lost 111-109 at home to the Clippers on Saturday night, attempted 100 shots Sunday and
their three defeats have been decided by 14 total points.
Kevin Huerter gets the Hoop and the Harm
“We can’t give up 50 points in the second quarter, or no quarters," guardMalik Monksaid. "It’s hard to win an NBA game like that.”
Brown, in his first year as Kings coach, received his championship ring from Kerr in a pregame ceremony on the court along with Sacramento assistant Leandro Barbosa, who also was part of the Warriors' fourth title in eight years.
Brown came down the hallway from the visiting locker room and snuck up on Kerr, thenthey chuckled and hugged.
The 52-year-old Brown filled in for Kerr for three playoff games last spring when Golden State's coach had COVID-19. Brown also went 11-0 guiding the Warriors through postseason games during the team’s 2017 title run while Kerr was out dealing with debilitating symptoms stemming from complications of back
surgery. Kerr returned for Game 2 of the NBA Finals that year.
“Mike is brilliant. He’s just got so much energy, so much love for the game, love for his job, for his work,” Kerr said. “He brings his enthusiasm every single day and that’s what we enjoyed so much over the last five, six years, however long he was here, and he and I were really a perfect pair. He sort of covered up for
my weaknesses and complemented me really well. I just loved being around him. Thrilled for him. It’s a great opportunity.”

SAN FRANCISCO -- — Nuggets coach Michael Malone so appreciatesNikola Jokictaking over a game and leading the way on both ends.
Jokic had his 77th career triple-double with 26 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists playing with a sore right wrist he had taped, and Denver edged Golden State 128-123 on Friday night in a rematch of the teams' first-round playoff series won by the Warriors in five games on their way to the title.
“My biggest challenge for Nikola is always finding a way to use his voice and be a leader," Malone said. "This is his team. He’s a great player, and what makes him great is he makes every one of those guys better. And that chemistry is only going to continue to get better and better as the season goes along. But
tonight was a great example of what it has potential to be.”

One down. 81 to go.
SAN FRANCISCO -- — After all those thrilling NBA Finals battles of last decade, Stephen Curry and LeBron James can still put on a spectacular show well into their 30s.
Opening night between these two greats showed why Curry's team is on top these days.
Curry began the season with 33 points, seven assists and six rebounds despite a slow start, and the Golden State Warriors beat James and the Los Angeles Lakers 123-109 on Tuesday night after receiving their championship rings in a pregame ceremony.
“I’m thrilled with the win,” coach Steve Kerr said. “Ring night is never an easy game and the first game of the season is usually filled with some nerves early on.”
Jordan Poole made a pretty bounce pass to a driving Draymond Green for a layup and all seemed perfectly well with the defending champions almost two weeks after Green punched Poole at practice Oct. 5, then took a brief leave of absence from the team to work on his emotions. Poole wound up with 12 points and
seven assists.

“We went out there, we had a job to do tonight to win a game,” Poole said when asked if healing has happened between him and Green. “It was a ring night and that's really what we were focused on finishing the first game. It was a huge win against a really good team.”
James had 31 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists, while Russell Westbrook scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds after nursing a sore left hamstring. Anthony Davis added 27 points, but the Lakers couldn't keep up in another signature, runaway third quarter by reigning NBA Finals MVP Curry and Co.
“That third quarter is where they always excelled, when they made this transition to being a powerhouse team,” James said. “You’ve always got to be ready for the third quarters, and we were not tonight.”
Curry missed his initial five 3-pointers and finished 10 for 22, 4 of 13 from deep.
Klay Thompsoncontributed 18 points in 20 minutes for the Warriors, who celebrated the franchise’s fourth title in eight years.
“It’s really fun to be a part of, it’s really fun to watch,” Poole said. “... These guys have played at the highest level over and over and over again.”
Kerr limited the minutes of both Thompson and Green, who was away from the team until last Thursday. Kerr said he will increase Thompson's minutes each game as a precaution following his return in January from an absence of more than 2 1/2 years for surgeries to his left knee and right Achilles tendon.
Warriors centerJames Wisemanmade his first appearance since his rookie season of 2019-20 after sitting out all of last season recovering from right knee surgery. He had eight points and seven rebounds.
The Lakers' 22 turnovers led to 27 points for the Warriors.

It was business as usual for Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors, as they opened their season with a casual walloping of the Los Angeles Lakers at home Tuesday night. The Warriors scored a 123-109 victory over LeBron James and company, and they did that in style from start to finish. Speaking of which,
here is Curry just toying with Anthony Davis’ defense in the fourth quarter.
Steve Kerr challenged Wiggins to keep up the rebounding that helped define his sensational NBA Finals performance.
The box score totals may be more “good” than “great” in the rebounding department, but when you account for the amount of balls he kept alive, I’d say it was a very successful day there for him.
That's just beautiful basketball.

James Wiseman, despite butterflies related to ring night and playing in his first official game since April 2021, acquitted himself well in the Golden State Warriors’ 123-109 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night.
Moses Moody seemed primed to be the Golden State Warriors’ top reserve behind Jordan Poole this season, his blend of size, shooting ability and two-way feel on the wing marking a seamless fit alongside the reigning champs’ “foundational six.” It’s still not too late for that to transpire, of course.
LeBron James didn’t waste any time implicitly calling out the Los Angeles Lakers’ front office.
2022-23 KIA SEASON PREVIEW
2022-23 SEASON PREVIEW: GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS
With a solid veteran core and emerging youngsters, Golden State is positioned well to defend its title.
Klay Thompson’s All-Star declaration will make Stephen Curry, Warriors fans smile
Klay Thompson has big plans this 2022-23 season, and it should excite not only Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors but also the whole fan base.
The Warriors last season stamped themselves as the league’s premier franchise of the last 10 years, as if there was any doubt, by winning a fourth title in the Steph Curry era. And even better, the Warriors not only return with their crucial players intact but are prepared to give some youngsters a chance to carve a role in the
rotation and therefore bring a different element.
Curry had a decorated 2021-22 with the all-time 3-point record and Finals MVP and shows few signs of slippage, although to be fair, his accuracy did dip during the last regular season. Still, he was dominant in the postseason and that’s all that matters. Klay Thompson made a solid, though not tremendous, return from two major
surgeries and Draymond Green once again was a factor defensively.
What makes the Warriors especially dangerous this season is their “next” generation: Jordan Poole, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody and James Wiseman all bring youth and upside and should provide a balanced mix next to the vets. Basically, the Warriors are once again built to contend, and in a twist, seem built to last as well.
BIGGEST QUESTION
How good is Wiseman? The Warriors still don’t have a clue about their 21-year-old big man, held to only 39 career games because of injury. Keep in mind the Warriors selected him over LaMelo Ball in the 2020 Draft; while Wiseman couldn’t stay on the floor, Ball was Kia Rookie of the Year in 2021. Wiseman has potential, but
that word is always tricky, and the Warriors aren’t in a position to let him learn on the job and make mistakes — they’re built to win big now, not later.
SEASON PREDICTION
With a batch of young players who are restless and anxious to play, the Warriors are the rare NBA champion that returns with upside. Make no mistake, they’ll need star-level performances from Curry, Green, Thompson and Wiggins to position themselves near or at the top in what will be a competitive conference. But the
youngsters, if they prosper much like Poole, could be the difference-maker in the defense of the championship. Projection: Playoffs.
1 KEY STAT TO KNOW
3rd, 2nd The Warriors were the only team that ranked in the top three in both effective field goal percentage (55.2%, third) and opponent effective field goal percentage (50.9%, second). It was fifth time in the last eight years that they’ve ranked in the top three in both, with all other franchises (Milwaukee twice, San Antonio
once) doing it just three times over that stretch.
— John Schuhmann
PROJECTED STARTING FIVE
Stephen Curry: Already a legend and an all-time great, Curry is building a case for being a top-10 player in league history because his skills, especially from deep, remain deadly at age 34.
Klay Thompson: He spent his comeback season dealing with inconsistency, yet averaged 20 points and kept defenses on alert.
Andrew Wiggins: The secondary hero of the championship run, Wiggins polished his reputation and upgraded his status in the league with solid play at both ends.
Draymond Green: He was lost a few years ago without Curry and Thompson, then re-established himself as a valuable glue guy and piece of the puzzle when they returned last season.
Kevon Looney: Unassuming big man had a string of crucial games in the postseason and as a result, scored in the offseason with a contract extension.
KEY RESERVES
Jordan Poole: One of the league’s major revelations made himself into a major component for the Warriors by scoring big and taking winning shots while Thompson was out, then adjusted off the bench once Thompson returned.
Jonathan Kuminga: Easily the most athletic player on the roster brings plenty of bounce and energy to the floor; now needs to improve his skill-set to stay on it.
Moses Moody: A very fluid guard can assume bigger minutes and a role, now that Gary Payton II fled to Portland through free agency; can he bring it on defense?
James Wiseman: A mystery and a riddle rolled into one, Wiseman can make the Warriors exhale if he stays healthy and makes a strong push to start at center.
